I can't even begin to describe the embarrassment this guy is to the city...

Nova, part of the reason so many of us disavow him is that he's a product of post amalgamation. Toronto's geography significantly increased about 15 years ago by incorporating what had previously been essentially surrounding boroughs. Since then it's been a matter of the competing interests of downtown vs suburban agendas-currently in favour of the suburbs and leading to the gentrification of the city's core.

Ford is from one of them, of course, and the patronage to his pet causes is well documented. Also well documented are his all too frequent blunders and general assholish behaviour.

I just love the circus shit show that Rob Ford is, it's so entertaining to watch. It's hard to even believe he's gone through the shit he's gone through, it's so surreal. That said I'd just hate it if he was my Mayor, so my sympathies go out to the people of Toronto. Just this once.

Rob Ford is only a symptom of a bigger problem. That is, Toronto is truly and seriously fucked beyond all hope. There hasn't been a decent city council or mayor in Toronto for decades (and that includes pre- and post-amalgamation).

For the fourth largest metropolis in North America, it's a really quite a juvenile city.

The public transit system is pathetic for a city of Toronto's size.

The over-development of condominiums in the downtown core has already killed the city. NIMBY-ism is fucking rampant. And don't get me started on the island residents...

Toronto is a city that elects do-nothing feel-good leftist twerp mayors like David Miller and, as soon as he's chased out office, turns around and elects a right-wing drug addict stooge.

Truly world-class cities don't have stupid debates over the size of their airport or whether a casino should be built (just another entertainment option in a city that already offers thousands of entertainment options).

Fuck Toronto and its mamby-pamby idiot residents who can't seem to elect one decent politician at any level of government. I gave up hope on Toronto years ago. The best thing that could happen right now is if the entire city slipped into Lake Ontario.

Not really.. Van is full of people who used to live in Toronto... Suburban hippies and Newfies who got land sick trying Alberta.

I've lived in most of Canada's main cities over the years... far and away Montreal was the best for just about anything you could imagine.

Well he was right about #9 - Asians are hard workers who certainly have the ability to take over, at least here in America. I wouldn't be offended if an Asian accused me of being a hard worker, but I would give them a piss-test because THEY would be smoking crack to come up with such a distorted picture of reality.
