My new project for my sons first birthday. :shakes: "Woodys Round Up Gang" Critique is highly welcome! Its my first project this size.. Actually its my first project with cartoon characters, First plywood project, and first lifesize face cut out stand.... :weep: Its gonna take some man hours :weep: Keep in mind, I dont have to do faces because they are being cut out for the kids to stand behind. I didnt take picture of the cactus that im gonna paint on seperate boards. The center cut out will be jail bars. And besides all that I have no idea what to put in the empty spaces

COOL! The kid will love it. Most moms wouldn't even spring for a "sock puppet" version, let alone something of this scale.

Day 2: About 2 hours of work (although you cant see it  Edged the entire backside to make the entire thing more stable. Added the hinges between, and the bars for the jail in the center. :shakes: Didnt have to buy one thing cause we used would from a tree we cut down a couple months ago :shakes:. Started on the stone in front of the jail, even though the paint is soaking up, so it looks like it will need two or three coats. :weep: and Fyi, the stone will probably be covered, because Im famous for painting things over and over again. :storm:

Gesso is mainly for prepping canvas. For wood you probably want a good oil-based primer. Using gesso on wood you'd probably want two coats.

So three days ago While getting prepped to work on my giant painted cut out thingy. I found a baby duck  No mama or other baby duckie running around, like 100 degrees outside. and no where near water  Wierd huh? :flow: So, I decided to put said duckie in our baby chicken room. :shakes: Duckie seemed upset. I didnt know what to do, so I took a recently hatched silky out and left him with the duckie, and now they wont seperate  If I take the ducky out to pet him and let him socialize the silky goes crazy and vise versa. I guess I gotta keep them both now. Named Salt and Pepper :shakes:

    Oh, and more painting :techman:

It still looks very cool! My Woody would have looked like the blue bear on Toy Story 3..although I'm slightly unclear as to what the issue with it (your painting) is?

noooo..you are your own worst critic ;) we always are because WE can see the imperfections and if it doesn't meet our vision it drives us bananas. But usually nobody else can.
