Can it be done? I've discovered that my agent isn't really... um... doing anything. She isn't even primarily a literary agent. Well, that I knew when I signed with her. What I didn't know, and only recently discovered, is that she is apparently not a literary agent at all.

She claims to have connections, but after growing skeptical and doing as much research as it's possible to do, it turns out she's mentioned nowhere in relation to literary endeavors. Neither WGAw nor WGAe nor AQC have heard a peep in relation to her name.

So the question is, can I parlay the fact that I have an (abysmally underachieving and underqualified) agent into getting a good agent?

Given how you've described her "credentials" and her "accomplishments," I wouldn't.
