Get that stupid Spock Market shit off the screen so I can watch the fucking show. Goddamn G4 morons...
I'd like to see the marketing genius that thought shrinking the video down by 30% and adding superfluous crap in the empty space would be a good idea, so I can punch him in the face. They're doing it with TNG too, I think.
I oughta send them an e-mail. I bought a big tv to get a bigger picture! I feel bad for the poor fuckers who have 27" tvs.
they used to have good shows, and on saturdays they had trek uncut all day long, no 2.0 shit just TOS. They used to have judgement day. Now they have cops
G4 used to be the only place I was able to watch Arrested Development. Then they started doing those ads that take up 1/3 of the screen while the show is airing, and I got the DVDs for Christmas.
Whichever mouthbreathing asshole in the TV business first started the trend of polluting the screen with graphics while a show is on should be tortured to death. I mean the stuff like Timmy mentions, the animated ads for other shows down in the corner, the "crawler" blurbs they do . . . any of that crap. Get. It. Off. My. Screen.
What really bugs me is that they mostly do it on cable channels that we have to pay for. I can understand NBC having to do it because they're going through financial difficulties, but G4 is owned by Comcast, one of the largest cable service providers out there. I think they can afford to restrict advertisements to their commercial breaks, especially since we're paying to watch their shows.
The only thing that helps is a widescreen TV. I use the Zoom2 feature, which zooms in the middle of the screen to stretch to widescreen. So it cuts out a lot of the market and chat crap.
Whoever told these whizkids that filling the screen with a bunch of bullshit needs my foot in his ass. I detest ST 2.0 for that crap. Get rid of the onscreen clusterfuck and I'd watch. Sci-Fi did a nuBSG marathon last week in prep for the new episodes and I started watching...until they had so much bullshit on the screen that I couldn't watch the show. So, I changed channels. Fuck that garbage.
They want you to buy the DVDs. They do the same thing with stuff like Shonen Jump ( a poor comparison, but a valid one)
