This is actually good news because at this point we can definitely now blame developing countries in the 3rd world and slow down their emissions so we in the West can maintain our economic dominance

I didn't! :shakefist: but it did fatten my wallet thanks to hostile fire pay (it's a thing!) combat zone pay, family separation pay, etc. etc.
And it got a picture of me on the David Letterman Show, along with David reading a letter I wrote about taking the picture, and David sent me a hand-written & signed thank you note. :techman: This was before DL went full-on whining lib of course. And the warzone almost got me some other things I can't discuss but logistics fell through. :shakefist: Another disappointment was Arnold Schwarzenegger came to my camp on a book signing tour but I missed him because I had gone to Germany for a week or so then came back. :shakefist: He visited a medical unit right down the street from our camp that had been hit with mortars earlier in the day before he arrived. Day late & a dollar short for me!
But you are right - there was extra money to be made under the table if you wanted to risk your career and possible freedom if incarcerated.
    Not worth it! :nono:

Solar has been on the rise the last few years . I'm also seeing a lot more of them on roofs here in Florida due to the cheaper costs. A friend of mine got into that a few years ago and says the installation business has been booming in California and Texas. He looks forward to expanding in Florida soon.

a lot of new portable tactical equipment in the army is solar powered. Matter-of-fact right here on Fort Gordon they put in a big solar farm to supplement the power grid.

Solar will take a big hit with Trump's tariffs on China as most panels are made in China.

If we planted lemon trees and used CO2 to make the lemonade fizzy (let's not forget needing more sugarcane for sweetness) then we might solve this! Maybe global warming is all down to the lack of kids making lemonade to sell on the sidewalk these days?

*Disclaimer, this is not an actual thing that Senator Jim Inhofe has said about global warming, as you might notice due to it being at least 200% less retarded.

If you stopped using natural CO2 deposits and only used captured CO2 for fizzy drinks, at least you'd help develop a CO2 market, although not reduce emissions.

This is why I keep saying how lucky we are to have a real scientist on this board.

Did you get your college degree(s) from a Cracker Jack box? :jayzus: Your idea is ludicrous. Lemon trees take forever to produce fruit. I just bought some magic beans that will grow a huge beanstalk in record time, virtually overnight or so the seller claims. Once they reach sufficient height I will dump bags of ice purchased from the Circle K store on the corner into the upper atmosphere. It's not rocket science!

okay, so am I the ONLY one that noticed that this makes 75 posts in a thread saying "even hard-right GOP Admin says "Yup! Warming is a thing!" and our most passionate conservative members who have spent the entire existence of this site insisting it was NOT in fact a thing....
are saying exactly nothing now denying that it's a thing (while some of them, including their most ardent voice, are posting in the thread discussing other tangents)

Whilst I understand the desire to say "told you so", something like this is simply too big to become just another battleground. If people are admitting they were wrong (even implicitly), they have become new allies, not defeated opponents. The future is going to need all of us pulling together, not squabbling over whose fault it was.

they are not admitting they were wrong, they are not changing any position they ever had based on this information - rather they are cashing the "get out of responsibility free" card that Trump printed off for them.

When they come around and say "Well shit, I guess we ARE going to have to regulate XYZ after all" THEN i will doff my metaphorical hat to them.

And to be clear, while I didn't hold out THIS long, I went from

"anthropogenic global warming isn't a thing, this is only natural solar cycles"
    to
"all this shit is over my head, but I'm suspicious of people who are eager to regulate"
    to
"I don't understand the subject well enough to have a position"
    to
"I'm not a scientist but it's clear that big business will burn anything down in the pursuit of profit"
    to
"The behavior of big business clearly proves you can't trust them to be voicing an ethical position on this subject so the scientists are virtually certain to be stating the facts"

Over the course of the last 15 years or so. I had to be dragged very reluctantly to the left side of this issue. But like on many others I can say clearly "the shit I used to say on this subject was apparently completely wrong"

No reason for me not to expect such clarity from others.

Many years ago, I did some moonlighting with Alabama Power. I met the guys that manage security for their nuclear plants. They're exceptionally serious dudes with a lot of the latest and best gear and the airspace around them are tightly controlled. Even touching the outer perimeter fence will cause a lethal force response.
