Trump is making 11/1/20 a "National Day of Remembrance for US Citizens Killed by Illegal Aliens"

230,000 Americans dead from COVID-19, this year. That's probably more than all aliens, legal or otherwise, have ever killed in the US, combined. In 2018, there were less than 1600 aliens (not broken down by legality) convicted of murder or manslaughter. Fortunately, we have such trackers as http://www.ojjpac.org/memorial.asp to figure out exactly how many have be. Between the two pages of the memorial, there are 383 entries between 2006 and 2020, several dozen of which are "Anniversary memorials" previously listed (in some cases, 3+ times). I certainly don't think such a zealous site would miss any. So we're talking about a national day of remembrance for... a few hundred victims over decades. While a deadly pandemic rages killing more people than that every single day. What a tool Trump is.

Also, it pretty much exactly matches The Remembrance Project's wish list for such a thing. If it's a hoax, it's either theirs, or someone trying to make them look bad.

There is already a national day of rememberance for murder victims. It is in September. I am not against remembering the dead. I wonder when the national day of rememberance will be for covid deaths or those killed by officers. Maybe June 14 would be a good day for any of those.

I think John Oliver did a bit on this shortly before the 2020 election re: the fence issue and land owners along the border (one of whose land actually crossed over into Mexico) thought this was absurd and there was no way this was gonna go through. Trump cutting through people's land is probably the biggest reason Texas is in play for the Dems this year.
