This president is a fool. He has no concept of what "public service" means and he is detrimentally in over his head.

It is at times like this one is glad that they're so incompetent.

Because the idea of Trumpista's successfully launching some sort of coup is risible.

Well, that's not what the article says, only that he will refuse to recognise a midterm legislative election.

This is the fear of trump, but the way things work is he does not have to recognize anything for the government to go on operating as it is. What is he going to do if the dems win? He still will have whatever executive power he has which can be challenged in the courts, and the dems who are elected will be seated in congress. Yes, he could try to use executive power to jail them or something, but would those illegal orders be followed or allowed to happen by the rest of the government?

This is not a king. He cannot just declare congress not legitimate and start signing bills into law.

By then, we'd have a Demo majority in Congress so many the least spineless GOP folks might feel safe enough to pitch in for the effort to get rid of Trump once and for all.

In honesty Hitler actually had served in the armed forces and had a military faction behind him when he swept into power. Trump has the proud boys. The US military does not back trump, they back the united states. There is a huge difference in that dynamic. I don't have faith in trump. I don't have a lot of faith in our government. I do have more faith that the US military serves the country and not an individual. So when an individual might try to command them illegally even if they have authority to command I think the generals and establishment will side with the country over any personal loyalties. Then you also have to add in the fact trump really does not encourage loyalty from anyone honorable or intelligent.

Sorry, I find the argument that trump can just take over america and the military despite the system to be as absurd as people treking thousands of miles across mexico because the dems paid them to rape little old ladies across the US.

I mean, there are plenty of Southern states where the elections are already going to be illegitimate (and some which have been illegitimate for a while) by virtue of the Republican voter suppression schemes.

The threat goes a bit further than the Orange Supremacist. What about his lesser hinged MAGA enthusiast? If he get up and starts declaring widespread voter fraud and hacking, I'm not so sure that it won't come to violence.

That is what I meant by trump has the proud boys. We have laws and jails for that sort of thing. None of that is legal because they decide to do it. We have had people get violent and start riots over political things they did not like. I think the police should be a little more forceful with the white ones, and more respectful to the browner ones, but that is what happens when we get a loud mouthed ignorant asshole in office.

Most of the trumpettes are not going to go tear up their neighborhoods rioting over the dems being elected. Most of their people do not want to spend their days in jail rioting for trump. You have to remember a lot of the trumpettes have money and things. The true radicals who go out and fight will have to deal with the police and Antifa who outnumber them and seem to be up for showing up and getting in their faces. Most of their rallies have a lot of the same people traveling from place to place. It will be hard to make across the country riots when you cannot turn more than a block or two of portland into a riot zone.

Think about it, if these guys do get uppity and wander into a poor black area with a riot going on they are going to get their asses kicked. Think about what would happen if the police truly could not control things and could not protect the white snowflakes and they were near a depressed black or hispanic area? Milo and his proud dildo boys wouldn't survive the riot. They know it which is why they have police protection when they protest.

I don't mean a riot. There are bombs flying through the mail as we speak. Someone is trying to hurt prominent Anti-Trump people. That could easily spread to their supporters.

We get this every election from whichever side is not in power: the tyrant in the Oval Office is going to--somehow--declare an election invalid. Remember the "Obama's going to find an excuse to stay in office after his second term ends?" Absolute nonsense.

It's not going to happen. Ever.

On the remote chance that it did, either the President would be immediately removed from office, or the country would be plunged into civil war.

Yeah, but there's a difference between speculation from critics and ideas the sitting president actually floats.

I don't see a quote from Trump in the article. It's reported that (unnamed) insiders believe there could be challenges to election results if such and such occurs. Even taking that statement at absolute face value, it says "throw legal challenges," which would be the lawful, legitimate way to resolve any disputes about legitimacy.

No kidding. This is really Deja Vu as I remember similiar reports just two years ago eg: Trump won't accept Hillary's win. Will he contest the results? Blah, blah blah ..

Of course Trump won and all hell broke loose. It would be funny if history repeated itself

I'm sure Trumps bomb mailing, pizza place attacking, antifa-beating, vehicular homicide committing, supporters will just sit back and wait for the courts to resolve everything. :borg:

You wouldn't since this is the product of an alleged leak... and let's not act like Trump didn't threaten to not concede if he lost in 2016. Excuse me for believing him.

I'll ask again...Who HAS LOST their rights? I'm not interested in the typical "will lose rights because I said so" bullshit that you leftists love trafficking. Where was the 14th amendment changed to not include those groups?

*watches TR narrow it down to "lost" rather than "losing," and wants to see changes to the 14th amendment, as if that has ever stopped minorities from losing rights*

My initial post, by the way, said "losing." You seem to only care once someone has lost rights. I guess that means you wait until your leg falls off before doing something about an infection.
