This line is cherry picked from a larger argument that is actually appealing to science and the common practices of other countries.

What she meant to say is, the science does not stand in the way.

Other countries which have done things far more differently than we have are seeing a drop in new cases, while we’re running out of hospital beds.

There are plenty of experts arguing that the benefits of reopening schools outweigh the hazards. Older people crowding out hospitals is not necessarily relevant.
