Martyn Ashton (the technical abilities in this are just amazing): [YT="Road Bike Party"]oEeyo7cfRm4[/YT] If you don't do anything else, skip to 3:10 for probably the most impressive bit of that. And the Sons of Science (kind of Red-Roomish so I put this here instead of the GR): [YT="Motherfucking Bike"]hgCqz3l33kU[/YT] I'm pretty much the second guy when I cycle, except that I don't run red lights. You get in my crosswalk or don't yield to me in an intersection and yeah, you're going to get an earful. Edit > yeah Youtube is being a pain in the ass right now
I've yet to be doored or even close to it; but its only a matter of time. There's really two kinds of cyclists - those that get doored and those that stay on the sidewalk
I'm not worried about getting doored. I pay attention to the parked cars far ahead of me. I know whether somebody is in one. But I can see how the hazard might drive a guy like Albert to the sidewalks.
I almost got doored by someone on a nearly-empty country road. That guy must've been waiting for me. And I don't see why bicyclists shouldn't be able to use the sidewalks when there aren't pedestrians on them. The roads here usually have way more cars than the sidewalks have people.
I don't mind bicyclists using the sidewalks, under a trio of conditions: 1. You travel no faster than you would walk. 2. If at night, use full lighting. 3. Speak up if you're approaching a pedestrian who could even conceivably fail to see that you're approaching. None of this top speed dead silent in the dark shit.
The first video was amazing, from one end to another! Thanks! The second one was pretty much just about attitude, and didn't interest me particularly.
Agree, amazing abilities! That view (looking down) on the wall just before he went down the concrete/stone steps around 3:40 I think made me sick to my stomach.
There's an outtake video for the first video I posted; he wipes out a few times and does get a single flat, but its all the same bike (a £10,000 bike that is). From what I understand he's an extreme mountain biker over in the UK. As for the second video; if you rode in traffic every day you all would probably like it a bit more
And the only issue I have is #1, but we've discussed that too much recently. #2 is a no brainer, if you aren't visible at night (car, cycle, or ped) then you're being an idiot, and if you can't see where you're riding you're even worse! I generally am at least semi-lit-up even during the day. #3 is actually the law in VA, some sort of audible signal to peds before passing. Around blind curves I generally ring my bell - if there's nobody there then I don't look like an idiot anyway
That first video would have been so much better if, right after doing all those amazing tricks, the cyclist got doored, knocked on the ground and run over by a bus.
Meh. Video #1, a bunch of fools trying to get mangled. No skin off my ass, but I hope they pay for their own fucking health care. Video #2, failing at humor.
Video #1 is one guy, and probably the reason Mountain Biking is a sport. He's in the UK so I'm sure his healthcare is covered I was SURE you'd like the pot smoking messenger in video #2, but maybe he wasn't angry enough for you :-p
Too much of the "riding" footage was fake, fictionalized bullshit. Trying to be funny, trying to dramatize, a either way. "Fictionalized" being the only context where those pissants get to pull their "bad ass cyclist rebel getting in everyone's faces" routine and walk away from it, coincidentally.
