I don't want my tax money funding corporations making a profit off war. When that stops, then we can talk about welfare.

No, I don't think I'm "better." There's nothing exceptional about me whatsoever. Which is why I can confidently say what I can do, anyone can do.

so if that's so non specifically/generally skilled anyone with a pulse can do it, shouldn't everyone be making at least as much?

throw us a bone here-at least tell us what you're doing these days?
last i recall you mentioned something about being a "code monkey" some years back. I'm presuming you've advanced?

I mean, my job isn't rocket surgery either, but I make a decent enough wage for it because I have the soft skills and aptitudes that frankly, many of y'all here lack. On paper, anyone can do it, but in practice? You'd probably burn out or blow up in a month based on your words here.

If they are identical as employees, their pay should be identical.

But what I mean when I say anyone can do what I do, I mean in the general sense of "get off your dead ass and hustle."

Machine shop in the back corner of an electronics plant. I mostly work with metal. Punching, sanding, bending, welding. I do my thing, listen to my headphones while I make my parts, deal with zero shitty people. I fucking love it.
    :nana:

19 years I spent banging out code in a cubicle. Then one day they called us all into a conference room and informed us that we don't work there anymore. Did me a favor. Never even looked for another job like that.

I will concede without resistance that I have no aptitude for dealing with people and their bullshit. I also accept no obligation to do so.

He felt bad about being a telemarketer?
Maybe there is a speck of conscience in there.

I guess there's the difference... I actually do feel an obligation to the work I do. It provides a benefit to my community and makes a difference to people who very often never did have a chance.
Rule 303-if I have the means and ability to help, I have an obligation to act.

you think that your worldview, philosophy, personal ethic, character - are better than those "with their hands out" and you look down on them. It literally drips from every sentence you type.

I look at it from a selfish POV as well though.

Scenario 1. I pay more for medical care/insurance and less in taxes.

Scenario 2. I pay less for medical care/insurance and more in taxes.

In which scenario am I netting more $$$? Because I can't imagine it would be a wash.

Paying a couple hundred more in taxes beats the hell out of thousands in premiums - most of which is just profit for insurers as they will never completely pay back what has been paid in.
