See, here's another example of things you say that make the readers of wordforge believe you are not really a teacher.

I have worked with people from many different cultures, languages, and beliefs. I often ask them to speak to me only in their language so I can learn, at minimum, the sounds of their language. I may not be able to speak any of them, but if someone uses certain words, I can use a crude sign language to point them in the right direction.

Why would you not want to learn as much as possible if you are a teacher?

Or is it true, today's teachers were the kids at the bottom of the class back in the day?

The point is that you want everyone to be clones of yourself, living in a monolithic society. That is a recipe for stagnation and death.

And, this is where the Christian religion lost me. At 10 years old I realized it's a cult.

I'm gonna give D a pass here - as a university lecturer I live in Wales, and often encounter Welsh speakers. I have not, in the years I've been here, bothered to learn Welsh beyond what I see translated for me on bilingual signage. We have work policies that all official posts on websites, job adverts etc must be bilingual, which I am required to respect. But they also don't make me undertake to learn the language, and I have more important calls on my time - students have the right to request Welsh language instructors, but not the right to demand I be one of them.

Most cults don't tolerate hypocrisy outside of the top dog. Christianity is basically a free ticket to look down on other folk whilst sinning like fuck because "Christ will forgive as long as you accept him".

Language is not for everyone. My last statement is what's important there. You may not want to learn the Welsh language, but is there anything about the Welsh culture, or traditions that you've taken the time to learn?

A small church can be just as intolerant of sinners amongst themselves as they can be against non-Christians. It might be a bit more difficult to find the sinners in larger churches. But, just because they aren't called out, doesn't mean they aren't censured.

It's still hypocritical, but I still think the Christian church is more like a cult than not.

Not really. Sheep fucking has never been my thing.

    ;)

Seriously, the Welsh are partly Celtic, so I share some traditions through my Irish ancestry and love of Scots whisky, but not really.

Well, you did bring up the Welsh. As I understand it, the UK looks at the Welsh much like the US looks at West Virginians. So, lets just take the Welsh off the table.

Let's say you were sent to teach in India. Would you turn up your nose at all things Indian? Or would you attempt to learn about their culture?

If I'd accepted the job, yes.

Again, to be fair to D, I probably wouldn't, because of the upheaval and the difficulty in adapting.

I wouldn't refer to such as "unpleasantries" however, because to be equally fair to D, I'm not a massive cockwomble like he is.

True enough... I found a lot of bigotry when I was hip deep in organized Wicca/paganism.
Kind of glad for it, helped me to overcome the need for fairy tales to guide my life by.

Anytime you get two or more humans together, for any reason, there is the potential for hypocrisy. I don't follow any organized religion or belief. I have my own beliefs. I share them when the subject comes up or someone asks.

And, yes, they are beliefs. There is no scientific reason for it, but I believe it.

Any religion that requires everyone else to believe the same thing is not really a belief, but a cult.

"A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."
    ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Concepts of "god" are an extraneous diversion in developing our comprehension the universe... We not only no longer require such poetic interpretations, but are held back by them.

I agree. But, I don't seek spirituality or God concepts to understand the universe. I seek spirituality to keep myself from from becoming a hypocrite. "Stand for something or you'll fall for anything." What do I stand for?

Let's take this immigration issue. My ancestors came here looking for a better life for themselves and their progeny. Who am I to say "look, we're all filled up here, you have to go somewhere else."

Let's take social safety nets - if it weren't for social safety nets, I would have been forced to get married - probably in an abusive relationship because beggers can't be choosers - and my life would be vastly different. I'd still be a drain on society due to my many visits to the emergency room.
Without access to birth control, I'd probably have had more children all draining society. I could go on, but, the point is, I don't mind helping out someone in need.

Almost any issue that comes up, I decide on which side would it affect me. And, my decision about how others should be treated is based on if that decision would be good for me.

I want to learn as much as possible.

About the universe. From the core of the Earth, to the most tiny and obscure elementary particles to the planets that orbit other stars plus I want to learn as much as possible about the engineering that could one day put humans there.

I have not the slightest interest in the importance of haggis to Scottish culture and traditions.

And yet, just three days ago the world ate haggis and celebrated the anniversary of the birth of the one of histories greatest poets. A man who has more statues around the world than any other literary figure. And from the 24th through the 28th of January each year, theres not an hour that goes bye without a Burms dinner being held somewhere in the world. At each of those dinners, haggis is eaten, but you know nothing of that because you are an idiot.

Not much about the Scottish. Aside from military history.

They did their part for history by producing my mothers family Pinkertons and Glasgows.

The Cult of Global Warming. It's every bit as rabid when it comes to persecuting nonbelievers as Scientology.

Fuzzy science, wrapped inside anti-Americanism and tied with a bow of narcissistic cultural elitism. Hoity toity snobs, congratulating themselves on their intellectual superiority and wagging a disapproving finger at the unwashed masses.

100 years from now, when the world hasn't ended in the existential environmental apocalypse these Chicken Littles are clucking about, historians will look back and wonder how the regressive Left became obsessed with this science fiction.
