    And?

I really hope this isn't being presented as some sort of conspiracy or coverup. Most military units blocked these high bandwidth sites ages ago.

Well, between garglers of government semen like you, and genuine tinfoil hat types, it starts to get hard to seperate the distinct scents of bull and horse shit anymore.

Wow, you really are a complete ass-hat.

(I'm not even sure what an ass-hat is, but I'm sure you are)

Anyway, to get this thread back on track, what's the rationale behind this?
    They need the bandwidth?
    Really?
I thought they had plenty of capacity for e-mails and such.
I thought the military had everything they wanted.
I mean, if the military doesn't have unlimited bandwidth, who the fuck does?

OK, you figured it out, it's a conspiracy.

Of course part of the conspiracy is they also block online gambling sites, porn sites and "hate" sites.

    Holy fuck you're retarded.

Yeah, I'm a bitch for shutting down some anti-military ashattery in the first reply.

:weep: You're not countering his points (not that there are many), you're just throwing flames. He may be doing the same thing, but he's way less whiny about it.

I already told you, you uncovered the conspiracy.

You already made up your mind, I'm not gonna jump through hoops to entertain you.

There's nothing to counter, they are blocking sites that suckup bandwidth and/or time. They've always blocked detrimental sites. He wants to see a conspiracy, so facts aren't going to change his mind.

As to throwing flames, his first act was to flame and insult me and throw a neg rep....so he's not even adult enough to deserve a real reply.

I'm not seeing any conspiracy, I'm just asking questions.

The military uses it as a PR site, so obviously that's not the issue. Probably bandwidth and time wastage is the real problem.

But you are downplaying the fact that this censors private uploads from military staff. Now the pentagon controls what Iraq footage goes to YouTube. Your just another fascist apologist like Archangel. I oughta neg you to hell, cock sucker!

Maybe they're afraid too many RL views from the grunts on the ground will get back to the folks at home and take the luster off the War to Bring Peace to the People of Iraq (or Kill Them Trying)?

    Nah, can't be that.

Gul hit it already. No matter how fat the pipes are, there will always be more need for bandwidth than there is bandwidth. As it stands, we wind up doing a lot of our videoconferences over ISDN instead of IP because of bandwidth limitations.

And they really sorta want military people doing...oh, I don't know...MILITARY things. like leading their people, rather than fucking off on the Internet. For that matter, US Marine computers don't come with Minesweeper and Solitaire and that because they want people using them for work instead of fucking off.

Hell, I'd think you hippies would be glad. I can imagine the NYT story otherwise: "Tax Dollars Wasted: US Troops Abusing Internet and Wasting Work Hours."

    Wow,

    You're truly ignorant.

Which is exceptionally humorous since you always try to portray yourself as "the smartest, most enlightened person in the room"

You hag, you can't even remotely spin me up. Way too many people here see through your act now.

I mean seriously, you've fallen so far that all you can do is cut and paste your drivel from one thread to another.
