Because vBulletin is the software used for Wordforge, and I'm pretty comfortable with it as a user, I'm considering using it for my own unrelated forum.

    An important question...

vBulletin has extensive capability to allow just about anyone with the appropriate permissions to view personal information about a member -- namely, his or her IP address. Further, IP addresses can be cross referenced with user names, and vice versa.

If I'm running a vBulletin forum, and I want to disable this feature to protect the privacy of my users, such that only one person -- me, the board owner -- can look at IP's, how would I do it?

    Thanks! :D

There are two options you have to set.

One is under vBulletin Options >> Message Posting and Editing Options.

You will see an option for Log IP Addresses, set it to "Display, but require moderator or administrator."

Then when you setup your moderator permissions under usergroups, change it so that they cannot view IP addresses.
