I discovered this on my account page today, it looks like Verizon is going to be offering Sponsored Data pretty soon. Take that Net Neutrality.
That was my first thought, but I think it's just that you can browse the sponsored site without being charged for the data. So if Netflix, for example becomes a sponsored site, it's Netflix paying Verizon for your data use as you stream, rather than it counting against your monthly quota. I can't see a problem with this idea. It makes people more likely to use Netflix, so win for them, it likely makes for higher data throughput levels for Verizon (paid by 3rd parties), so win for them, and it means the consumer doesn't need a ridiculous data plan, so win for us. the loser is any other high badwidth site competing with Netflix but not willing to pay. The free riders, in other words, that the pro net neutrality crowd think should receive subsidies from all consumers.
Crop out your browser history completely from screencaps. When I can see everything but the one thing you scribble out, it makes it look like that one thing was creepy midget ball-gag torture porn.
