I can only speak for myself, but part of this is just cuz I don't find the racism bullshit funny anymore. The bungling of gturner just brought it up to the surface but this shit was always there. Other posters have seen it but got told to suck it up.

The problem is that none of you have been willing to have a discussion about gturner in this forum, or willing to listen to those of us who've offered advice here when there's been a discussion about the board. I told you guys that this shit needs to be hashed out and the staff needs to present a unified front. Was there any discussion here before @gul replied to Paladin? No. Should there have been? Absofuckinlutely. What's the point of my being a mod here if my comments aren't even going to be considered? Shit, at least fucking tell me and everyone else who's on staff what you're going to do before you do it. But you can't even be bothered to do that. Nope. It's all just "We're gonna do what we're gonna do and fuck everybody else." If that's the case, why have mods?

We're sorry. We really are. I'll go on a limb and said none of us wanted to alienate you guys, it just came up and acted without thinking. Is that what you want to hear? Is bashing us on this going to get this resolved?

With that out the way, what do you all want us to do about gturner? I'm exhausted about other things at the moment, but since no one else is stepping up, I may as well make an honest attempt to clean this up before leaving.

I'm fine with bringing him back. Since everyone wants him and there is nothing beyond "he's irritating and a git and [name redacted] gave some of us the excuse to do something" and I'm not staying. I was never onboard fully with this because as shootER said, he'd have just flat banned him. I knew this was gonna happen, so I offered the VR as a separate step.

I'M listening. Tell ME what you want. And lest I don't respond to much tomorrow, it's because I've got an eight hours drive across state ahead of me, so I'm not ignoring anyone.

I apologize for not being around much over the last day or so, but something has come up at work that's required most of my time and attention (and will continue to do so through the weekend).

What mostly confuses me about this whole thing is how gturner became the focal point. By and large, he's not the one spewing the racist garbage.

Fuck, even *I* don't even know anymore. Mostly, it was the fact that he could just spin on a dime without missing a beat with the most fictitious lies and pass them for truth that drives people nuts.

Ramen? A blatant troll no one could take seriously. Dinner is just too plain nasty for many to like and that was true even in his hacylon days of bashing other for sentiments he now presents as "facts." But gturner can tweak buttons. I mostly glazed over his posts, but lately him coupled with the other pond scum was too much. But others want to keep things the way they are, so like John said, I'm not trying to fight it anymore. There's a lot of history here and I hope someone can find a better way of reconciling the wild west where we can beat down trolls and being welcoming to somehow that may not want to post every opinion on Facebook (and they do exist). I'm not that gal, evidently.

Okay, just woke up, don't know anything yet about the Paladin thing. What I said to him was that we needed some changes around here. We do. The truth is, that on Thursday, shootER, Anna, and I were all ready to just shut the place down for good. The reaction to the Violet Room and gturner banning was a large surprise to us, and I don't think any of us want an involvement with a place that savors the true colors that have bubbled out. Last night I wanted to make it clear that some changes needed to be made. They do. And I agree with all of you that those changes should be hashed out here. But in the mean time, I think the rest of the board needs to be placed on a hiatus. We should shut it down with a temporary page saying whatever message people think is appropriate, then we'll have some time to sort things out. If we can't sort things out, then I'm joining Anna and John. I have no interest in being part of a board that tolerates or encourages this kind of environment. Not even Troll Kingdom puts up with such things.

Reading a few more of the threads, we may not need to be as extreme as a temporary shut down. Paladin and I have always been at odds, but maybe somebody else can contact him and ask him to give us a bit more time.

In the mean time, Anna for a variety of reasons wants to step out from being an owner. We need a replacement. Likewise, Evenflow is technically still an owner, but I suspect he'd be happy to relinquish that position, so I think we need to find two interested and worthy parties. Longer term, I also do not wish to continue, which has been the case for about six months. I'm not looking to do that right now, because it might be misinterpreted, but I raise it to suggest that we have and will have some openings. People who can view this thread are among the top choices for nominees, but also well qualified to make some additional suggestions. Let us know if you are interested yourself or want to make an endorsement.

One thing....do we need four owners? We could easily cut down to three which is essentially how we've been running or even two, just to cut down on getting tripped up. I get why Anc set it up this way on the back of Lanz being gone a lot for personal reasons but for a board that sees 20 active posters on a good day, four may be a lot.

Part of it also rests on whether people want to pay the full cost.
