sigh... from the local evul media: Cobb Chairman Mike Boyce called on Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to resign, saying in an interview with the MDJ on Friday morning that issues with Tuesday’s elections rested squarely on the secretary’s shoulders. “I have no confidence in this system, nor the leaders that are behind it,” said the former Marine colonel. “And in my world, in the military, when you lose confidence in somebody, you replace them.” “I find it very curious that the people that are criticizing us the most are those people who voted to have this system put into place,” he said. And they gave it to us at a time frame that made it very difficult to make it operable. ... The system itself did not receive the necessary technical support we needed. My understanding is the whole state had 175 people that the state funded to work with us with our problems: We have (144) precincts here in Cobb County alone.” The chairman, a Republican, said the issue would play right into Democrats’ hands. “If ever there was a gift given to the Democrats about voter suppression, this is it,” Boyce said. “Because think about it, people have lives. They don’t have time to stand in line for three to six hours to vote on something.” Boyce said the state will face a much bigger problem come November if lawmakers fail to act soon. “Fix this system,” Boyce said. “I want the state to put the money into it. I want the legislators to get back to work, fix this system that they gave us, or get rid of it. “Because just think about this,” he continued. “We only had, you know, what, maybe 100,000 people vote in Cobb County, if that many in the primary, (and) we’re going to have anywhere from two and a half to three times more people (this fall). I mean, in November ... we may not get our results back until Christmas.” (source)
Not surprised ANC ignored these inconvenient facts about his state. Here are some more from the great state of California. You guys can continue to pretend that vote by mail is more secure, but facts say otherwise.
Sorry. I found the idea that someone from Florida arguing against mail in voting on the basis of people fucking up their ballot so laughable it didn’t need a response.
It's okay. Facts about your state can be very scary things. Next time don't be such a douche bag about it. Particularly when it's with someone that agrees with you mostly on the issue.
Another republican charged with vote fraud. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A freshman Kansas congressman who had listed a UPS Inc. postal box as his residence on a state voter registration form was charged Tuesday with three felonies, including illegal voting. The charges against GOP Rep. Steve Watkins came three weeks before the state's Aug. 4 primary election with fellow Republicans pushing to oust him from the eastern Kansas seat he barely won in 2018, even though he's largely toed the conservative policy line and supported President Donald Trump. GOP critics already had worried that the months-long investigation into whether Watkins violated state election laws puts the 2nd District seat in play if he wins the primary. Watkins called the charges “hyper-political” even though the district attorney who filed them also is a Republican.
Some voters won’t get their ballots until after Election Day, officials say This is what I love about people from Jersey. No filter and no problem using a colorful metaphor.
Vote-by-mail experiment reveals potential problems within postal voting system ahead of November election
1. Offer drop boxes for those who don’t trust the mail. Here is King County: https://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/el...ts/returning-my-ballot/ballot-drop-boxes.aspx Those 69 locations are just the 24/7 drop boxes. Last couple of days there will be twice as many temp locations (election workers with a van and a ballot box). 2. Only require that votes be post marked on Election Day, not received. Post Offices in Seattle will have a lane just for people with ballots to make sure they get post marked that day. These are issues that other states have solved. Use what is proven to work, it isn’t rocket science.
Tens of thousands of mail ballots have been tossed out in this year’s primaries. What will happen in November? Reasons they list for why ballots get thrown out Signatures are one thing(I never sign my name the same) but tape on an envelope and the way they date it? Come on.
As I said above, the arriving late thing is easy to solve. 2. Only require that votes be post marked on Election Day, not received. Post Offices in Seattle will have a lane just for people with ballots to make sure they get post marked that day. These are issues that other states have solved. Use what is proven to work, it isn’t rocket science. As for signatures, yeah sometimes people don’t properly fill out ballots (in this case sign them) and they get rejected. Same for in person (do I need to bring up hanging chads?). Again, there are things that those who have done mail ballots before have figured out and other places can use. In this case it is called ‘ballot chasing’. Candidates, parties, interest groups etc get voters to check the status of their ballot and ensure the signature is good and their vote counted. If a signature was initially rejected you can fix that. Here’s my ‘Track my Ballot’ portal on King County Elections. I have my ballot but need to turn it in. Each step will go green as it is processed.
One thing that I am wondering. We are just starting august. We know that come october we are going to have a problem with collecting votes by mail. We also know we have a huge glut of people who are unemployed and can work. Why not just have the month of october and november be where unemployed people are asked to show up to disperse and count ballots? You can make security measures to double count and check that the vote is correct. You could have two months where you could pay people to do the counting, and you have 2 months to prepare to do the job. But no, we have the monkey fucking a football congress, and trump as president. The state governments do not seem to be much better in this. You have so many unemployed people you could tap for this service and make it a paycheck and not reduce their number of unemployment payments. These are people who were already working in the workforce and spread across all of the states. We waste so much potential with our government stupid here in the US. All because socialism is evil, but the reality is the state could employ a ton of people to make voting really easy and safe for everyone and it would boost the economy.
Well, let's see: First you cut funding to the USPS, then you bitch because it's unable to do its job; therefore you want to strangle mail-in voting. Pending Postal Service Changes Could Delay Mail and Deliveries, Advocates Warn And @T.R blames the post office for His Boy Donnie's blatant manipulation of same.
So....guess we all have to trudge out into the covid to depose the dictator, eh? Boy, that's gonna be fun...I really want to run into my anti-mask neighbors. I'm sure they're a load of laughs.
Ya think? GOP fears Trump attacks on mail-in vote will sabotage turnout Stipanovich is so right. In Florida republicans use to dominate vote by mail, democrats would dominate early voting and election day was the tie breaker. Expecting seniors, many of whom need assistance and are use to absentee voting, to change their habits is a big ask.
I find that to be somewhat of a bullshit argument. You are not going to sabotage florida elderly vote by mail. It is pretty standard. Unless they do not actually get their ballots, they are going to vote by mail. Either they are snowbirds or their health prohibits them from making it to the election center. Either way they have been doing it for years and there is nothijng to say they won't be doing it again this year when their ballots arrive. The only problem that would occur is if trump trashes the USPS to the point where most of his floridian elderly voters cannot get their ballots or get them back to be counted. Since Florida is a huge swing state with an established system of massive vote by mail they really should make sure they do not kill the USPS like he wants.
Voted on the very first day of early voting. There was a tented drop off site right outside the door for voters to drive thru and drop of their VBM ballot. Doesn't get any easier than that.
