I've finally figured out that I have 3 days a week that I can walk in the morning. The other days I have class and if I'm working I only have time to study a little before I have to sleep for my shift (I'm 3rd shift). So I was wondering, is that going to be enough, 3 days a week? And how long would I need to walk to have an impact. I know I need to start out small, maybe 15-30 minutes but what do I work up to for it to be effective?

I would suggest start out at a slow pace walking normally, then gradually speed up while taking big (longer than usual strides).
The big strides are to stretch out your muscles.

It's more effective than stretching in place before you start walking...and it kills two birds with one stone!

After a few minutes of the "big strides" take normal strides but gradually increase the pace. Now you'll be burning calories without pulling any muscles.

Oh thanks! I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to try it....anything to save a little time. :D
