His boss is at a loss to explain his behavior. He's always been a perfectly normal, friendly man. He has no criminal record.
'Degree' in this case does not have anything to do with the extent to which the attack was vicious, violent, or gruesome. From what I know, first degree murder is generally where the killing was planned, or happened during the commission of some other violent offenses, or if the victim was a cop. Second degree murder is unplanned or anything not covered under first degree murder. I think the definitions are pretty similar between Canada and the U.S. And I really hope he doesn't succeed in pleading insane and being released after a few years of 'rehab'. Genuinely crazy or not, he needs to spend the rest of his days in a little cage.
I think I want them to invent a degree higher than first degree for this goblin. Hm. Maybe "goblin'" is the wrong thing to say after he ate the guy....
