I've seen a couple of people make mention of this already, that WF is automatically handing out GFY reps even when the user that (supposedly) handed out the GFY rep had no intention of doing it. Is there a board glitch or something?
That biggest issue I have posting on a phone is going to hot the 'Go To New Posts' at the bottom of the page, and then hitting one of the options in the reply box. It takes a moment for the reply box to appear. Sometimes the wrong smiley will get selected when in trying to select one, I'll just correct it.
Except it's not happening by accident. I tested to make sure and was able to reproduce the glitch twice.
Here's one that I know I didn't give out, it's in the thread about Ruth Ginsberg. I was able to undo it, but I know I didn't give to @garamet.
Ha! I was baffled by that one. Normally you're a suck up to her. Looks like Wordforge has achieved a limited form of sentience. Unfortunately for us it's Teh Baba level intelligence.
Though I have noticed that it takes time to put a smiley in a post. The board hangs for a second or two before putting it into the post. If I click too much I can end up with three of the same smiley and have to delete them.
I was curious about that. I've received a few of them lately and I was curious because there was nothing particular controversial in those posts.
On a similar vein, does WF like to 'jump' around the page a few times as its loading on the phone? IE, the page loads to the newest post, jerks up or down a few as you scroll around to compensate?
If we're making a list, the editing window doesn't work with many advanced keyboards on android. I have been writing my posts in the plaintext window for ages now, which does of course explain a lot.
hmmmm checking my "ratings given" seems to validate this theory. Either that or I'm schizo and have alzheimer's. Not that I'm discounting the latter.
Well this is certainly odd. I’m out of commission atm, but when I’m feeling better, I’ll take a look at it. But it’s also the widest reaction, so it would make sense that it’d be the most likely accidentally hit while scrolling.
I don't think I've ever hit any of rep buttons by mistake when I was scrolling. And at least on my phone, the "fantasy rep" button is closer to the edge than the GFY one is, so if anyone were going to tap one on accident, I'd think it'd be that.
Most people don't scroll with their finger at the edge of the screen. I just paid attention to scrolling this page on my phone and the tip of my thumb almost exactly lined up with the placement of the gfy rep. That's there has been no rep added to a post, once anyone has repped a post the layout changes so that love/happy lines up with it.
And on my phone, it's a bit different. The GFY rep is about 3/4 of an inch from the edge of the screen, with my finger hitting the screen to scroll at about the half-inch mark, making it equally likely that I'd hit the "Reply" button as well as TLDR Dumb or Teh Baba rep button. I've also noticed that the location of rep can vary from post to post. (And that I sometimes scroll with my left thumb, even though I'm predominantly right handed.)
Notice that the "Reply" button is consistently in one place, while the rep buttons move around. If it was somebody being a "fumble thumb" I'd think that they'd hit the "Reply" button as often as they did a rep button. I can understand them not noticing that they'd accidentally hit a rep button, but the "Reply" button kind of makes things go a bit squirrelly.
I don't see many mistakes, but I do know mu big fingers have hit that on occasion on my phone. I normally post from computer so the touch screen misrep is much less of a problem.
