I am going with a friend to Tip Top Meats in Carlesbad. There is nothing fancy about this place as it started off as an old fashioned German butcher shop and when they moved to their current location they added a small restaurant which served both American and German family style food. Being owned by butchers though the meat is top notch, U.S.D.A. Prime, and the portions are huge while the prices are surprisingly reasonable. On the weekends the pull out they smoker and spend all day smoking ribs, brisket, and tri-tip. :yum:

I will probably buy some meats to cook at home too because they have a great selection including house made cured meats, charcuterie, and dry aged meats. I can't wait.

    I'm told we're going to P.F. Chang's. :marathon:

It's my cousin's wife's birthday and apparently that's where she wants to go.

It's been worse ever since the baby. Sure we ate healthy when she was pregnant, but now it's far less meat...

SPAM topped with cheese. Simple, but I have a busy evening going on. Fattening? Perhaps, but I'll fast for breakfast to make up for too many calories. I like to keep my body "off guard" and guessing what's coming next, be it exercise or eating.

I ate a giant chicken parm sandwich with fries and a chocolate shake around 2:30-3. Need to go to bed early, so I think I'm good.

I had pasta with chicken, tomatoes, and garlic in a white wine and lemon sauce.

Poor T.R. finally lost it. Getting clowned in that other thread seems to have broken him and now he is going rep war style through a bunch of old posts clicking the fantasy rep. As if that even matters with nurep.

Irrational anger is such a tragic thing. :(

What did you use to thicken the sauce? Flour or cream? Doesn't flour usually need some sort of fat like butter or oil or something so it becomes a roux?

No thickening. You sauté the garlic and chicken, add the tomatoes and some herbs, squeeze some lemon and add with the wine, then reduce slightly. Then toss with the pasta, which slightly absorbs the liquid. It's not meant to be creamy or thick, so much as wet.

Ok, that is different. I am used to thicker pasta sauces but this one sounds kind of light and refreshing. I might try it with the wider but thin linguini.

Another one like that would be linguine with white clam sauce.

You can use white wine or any kind of broth to achieve similarly light pasta sauces.

I was listening to the radio and they were talking about a call in show from Australia where a wife called in and said she thought her husband was cheating because he was no longer paying attention to her, his hours had changed and he would be gone for like 15 hours at a time and would claim he had to travel on the weekends when he previously never had, etc... She said this had been going on for about a year.

The radio show people put in the hubby's name and said the hubby had had an Ashley Madison account for one year. The wife then had a melt down live on air before hanging up in a rage.

Personally, I think that was irresponsible and sensationalist of the radio program and they are begging to get sued if they make a false positive (like someone with the same name)
