Each of the last two years I’ve made in person pleas to the highest levels of government to end it. The restraining order is becoming a problem but I think I got through to him!

Nothing. Leave it alone. We tried permanent DST in the 70s. It didn’t work. No reason to think permanent standard time would work any better.

Blame it on woke trans ideology and the republicans will try to end it to avoid doing any real work. Then all you need to do is get a couple of dem senators to vote with the reps before they realize the plan, and Biden will sign it to make his repulican friends happy.

Permanent DST, since that’s what everyone seems to like. Just stop the fiddling with the clocks stupidity. It accomplishes nothing.

yeah... YMMV on that if for no other reason than daylight saving ideas predate standardized time/time zones by close to a century.

Corporations and business has always been and what will in the future be the driving factor for having a standardized time. Sure, we could all go on a UTC time clock. But, then, we'd never again be able to use the excuse "it's 5 oclock somewhere.". We'd all be stuck at 3 PM waiting to have a drink.

Having the time change allows coordination of those schedule changes. If you don’t like it, change your own schedule in the other direction. It’s exactly equivalent, except you don’t have to worry about what happens if your two jobs, or job and school, change schedules at different times.

Generally I prefer permanent Standard Time, although from China DST puts the difference with the US East Coast at an even 12 hrs, easier to calculate when I call home.

Sunrise should always be 6:00, and sunset always 18:00. From there, the number of minutes and seconds in an hour is adjusted locally and daily so the light period and dark period is twelve hours.

Also, everyone uses the 24hr time format, no more of this AM/PM crap.

Don't you have an elementary school to stand exactly 500ft away from while you proudly announce to all passers-by, "The conditions of my parole state I can't be closer than 500 feet, standing exactly 500ft away is my constitutional right!"?

Then no doubt you demand all of the businesses you patronize to change their hours to oppose DST, and throw a righteous fit outside their closed doors 30 minutes after closing time in the summer. And have your friends (maybe a bad existential assumption) tell you times in standard time only lest they get an earful about how you’re being oppressed by their choices. God help the receptionists at offices trying to schedule appointments for you as you tell them off, or worse, when you claim oppression for missing the appointment by an hour. No doubt if you had children you’d drop them off and pick them up at school an hour late during DST.

You must be the whiniest little bitch in real life, or else you just play one on the internet. Not sure which is sadder.

Your sleep schedule will change anyway. Before there was DST there were "summer hours". The question is whether or not you want to change it in sync with everyone else.

This makes no sense. The entire purpose of DST is to ensure everyone’s “summer hours” are the same. So, if there wasn’t a DST and the work schedule stays the same, then there’s no reason to “sync with everyone else”.
