Dude... we should meet up when the zombie invasions happens. I have 2-1/2 cases of Dr. Pepper and around 50-60 condiment packs from different restaurants. There's ketchup, honey, hot sauce, bbq sauce, and some mustard I think.

I used to have a "get home bag" when I lived in Memphis. I don't remember what all I had in it, but I know there was a towel and change of clothes vaccume sealed, some extra ammo, a reflective blanket, para cord, and some cliff bars.

Just for the math inclined, a 5 pound bag of flour (19 cups) has:

    8,360 calories
    1,748 grams of carbs
    228 grams of protein
    2.66 grams of potassium.
It has 152% of your daily calcium and 456% of your daily iron.

So if you turned a bag of flour into hard tack, it should make 8,360 calories worth of food at a cost of $3.00 to $3.50, and it would last 50 years.

So for $30 to $35 you could make 83,600 calories worth of hard tack (50 pounds), which alone would cover about 30 man days of an unbalanced diet (at 2,700 calories per day).

Wrap in Ziplocs, put it in a plastic tub, toss in a bottle of multi-vitamins and some shortening (like Crisco sealed in aluminum wrappers), perhaps a few cans of protein powder (that weightlifters buy at the drug store), and you should be covered for most disasters. The Crisco should stay good for at least two years, as should the protein powder - if not much longer.

This was handy. Ten best long-term foods at the grocery store.

Rice and dried beans keep 10 years. Canned meats last 6 to 10 years. Pasta is good for five years. Honey lasts essentially forever.

I've always kept a can of pickled beets because it means my cupboard will never be bare.

Hey! Maybe you can listen to Alex Jones on the hand crank radio, narrating the apocalypse. Do you think he sells dehydrated water? I've been looking all over for that!

    I know that guy!

No seriously. I know that guy. I used to see him and Tammy Faye at the Hungry Fisherman in Lake Wylie all the time when I was a kid.

I also knew a guy who's brother dated Tammy Sue when I was older.

Maybe he'll give me a buddy discount. :soma:

He is pandering to the insane right and the pepper movement. We even had one or two peppers who melted down on this forum before leaving in a huff after their claims about a half black guy getting elected would some how cause the entire country to breakdown never happened.

That's THE Jim Bakker from the 80's scandals? I didn't even recognize him! I figured he would have disappeared into obscurity by now. Well doesn't that beat all.

Yep. Heritage USA used to rival Disney World as far as visitors go. Now it's just a mostly abandoned dump.
