What about those who are know-it-alls and won't even pretend to listen to the advice of those evaluating him? :brood:

    (A) Make a list of things you really love to do - things you'd do for free if you could afford to
    (B) Take ISTJ testing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISTJ to see how what you love matches with your personality
    (C) Consult with the job placement experts in your area. Bring the ISTJ results with you
    (D) Get off message boards and do something

    Or just whine.

yep, someone mentioned HVAC work as an example of two year's worth of technical training leading to good, steady money. And the ambitious ones have all kinds of side work. I have some of them on my crew, and 50K (about what they make) plus all their side work means they do quite well, as 50K goes pretty far in Georgia. Factor in my county is growing fast, and rich or poor nobody can live in Georgia without AC nine months out of the year! :whew:

Isn't hard work an integral part of the (now defunct) American Dream? Oh yes, it is.

Hard work and skill should be rewarded, however even in a society of Einstein level geniuses with Olympic athlete levels of effort some people will inevitably be at the bottom.

There should be an acceptable living wage and I am 100% with public programs to provide employment when the free market can't do so.

Right. Because luck plays a role. We all know examples.

Agreed. So much that needs doing. Yet the reality is that there will be ever fewer jobs in both private and public sector as automation continues.
And there's no reason why you can't look for another job while on the public programme. People could come and go if necessary. It sure beats unemployment insurance.

Other things like universal guaranteed income should be explored. That way the fewer jobs could be shared, to some degree.

Oh, and stop calling Boss Hogg a "job creator", cuz he ain't.
