Mostly bullshit. I don't even like trans being lumped in with "LGB" but I'm pretty much stuck with it. I tend to write it LGB/T just as a form of impotent protest. But the truth is that apparently there's nothing political advocates had rather do than argue over labels. To take as an example the bit that i'm most familiar with: Transgender v. Transsexual. In much the same way that the concerns and situations of the trans person are not the same as those of the homosexual person, there's a difference just not in definition but in nature and needs in this distinction. Transsexual is, bluntly put, one form of being transgender. so is intersex, both of which are actual physiological conditions. BUT also under that heading comes cross-dressers, androgyns, and even drag queens among others. the (valid) complaint of the transsexual is that all LGB/T activism uses the term "transgender" when it is self evident that a drag queen does NOT need the legal protections that a transsexual does. Still, there's enough room for argument there that it's wise to just resign yourself to the inevitable. Even having done so, however, many of us take every opportunity, when political or ideological debate ensues, to point out that a transsexual is something fundamentally different that a cross-dresser. That said, including both in an acronym is silly, there's no point in saying one is transsexual OR transgender, it just leads to unnecessary confusion. I can see the argument that the intersex person does not like tl be classified as transgender (or transsexual) but the reality is they are either intersex in a way that is private and undetectable to the public, in which case they have no stake in the activism, or their condition cause some sort of gender non-conformity which places them under one or both of those terms. listing that separately is, again, silly. Worst of all is "questioning" - no one gives a fuck if you are questioning until you DO something that puts you in one of the other categories. If you don't, you are straight and the bigots are not paying attention to you. for the matter of that, if you are strictly reasonable about it, "bisexual" is unnecessary since, when you are behaving as straight, you are not an issue - it's only when you do what the bigot considers gay that you are at risk. so if you really wanted the most minimalist label while referring to everyone in question, it would be enough to say - H/T (homosexualtrans)...and it's too bad that "homo" has such a pejorative tone because it would be nice to be able to shorten "homosexual" in such a way as to take "sex" out of it.

How about we all just come together in IDGASWYFSLAIAKAOTIHTT? "I don't give a shit who you fuck so long as it ain't kids, animals, or things I have to touch."
"Questioning" = straight hipsters and teens who think the alternative lifestyles are fabulous and can't bear to be left out of the fun, parades and parties so they have made up a bullshit category to be "included" in the coolness without committing to anything that can get them beaten up by a bigot. All the fun, none of the suffering! It doesn't get better than that!

It's a Native American third gender variance. It's a person who supposedly contains the spirits of both male and female and not only dresses with a mixture of male and female garb but their social roles are a mix of male and female roles. It's complex... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-Spirit
