seriously - does the school system screen them for lack of common sense? In a high school here in Augusta/Richmond County in what the article describes as a "rough area" (being 68 percent minority with 97 percent of the total students economically disadvantaged) this braniac teacher throws this log on the racial tension bonfire. Unbelievable! https://www.wrdw.com/nbc26/content/...ollowing-controversial-message-562035011.html
Well last football season I got into trouble for referring to my 8th grade linebackers (all white) as the "Dirty White Boys". It was a name of a pro wrestling duo from the early 1980s. The guys liked it but I got complaints (parents) I had used the same nickname for my linebackers at Norphlet years earlier. When the 9th grade linebackers wanted their own nickname (all were black) I coined them the "Mighty Black Men". Two of them liked the name but one did not and I had to stop referring to them as such. I also had to stop doing the Tarzan yell whenever my biggest, strongest 8th grade player took the field. I had said he "looked like Tarzan, played like Jane"
What was incorrect about what the teacher said about the southern swastika? Poor wittle white snowflakes cannot take the truth and melt down. Sorry your clan heritage has become the subject of mockery oldfella. At any rate hopefully this girl gets some education on her traitorous heritage and why the white trash swastika is not something you want to go around sporting. School is for learning, and it is about time they started telling the truth about the confederate heritage instead of pretending they were noble heroes fighting the good fight.
Not seeing the problem? In seriousness though I was about to say surely this person can't be representative of the profession till I noticed this: Dude, just stop, this is why you need a ghost writer. You may as well have just painted a target on your chest.
That is absurd and offensive! Putting a Confederate Battle Flag sticker on your truck doesn't mean you intend to marry your sister! It means you intend to marry your cousin.
Again. What did I do wrong. Aside from one black players, all the players liked the group nicknames. I was told later that "you cannot label students in any way that indicates differentiation by race or sex". A coach I originally worked with at Norphlet (he is principal at a larger school now) routinely called his players "vaginas". Out loud in front of home town fans. Another coach I worked with after Norphlet was prone to screaming at his players "IDIOTS!!!!". Also in front of fans. He is currently Dean of Students. What was wrong with "Dirty White Boys" and "Mighty Black Men".?
You are going for early retirement, right? There is no way you are going to get another substitute gym coach job as an open Nazi and admitting to using racial slurs on your students.
Just asking you why you believe what you believe. I thought it was @Shirogayne duty at wordforge to find racism under every stone.
First of all, both nicknames can be offensive to certain groups of people. And you claiming you didn't do anything wrong when one of the players didn't like it is idiotic. You again forget that you are supposed to respect your students and players. Just because you're their "coach" doesn't negate that. And if it got you in trouble, then it further indicate you were in the wrong. Regardless of what you think, it doesn't matter if your leaders, supervisors, superiors tell you not to do or discipline you for it, you don't fucking do it.
Point taken. And I stopped using the "Mighty Black Men" label after one of the black players indicated he didn't like it. All the white players in question loved the "Dirty White Boys" labeling.
This was a thread already: https://www.wordforge.net/index.php?threads/where-do-they-get-these-teachers.118905/ I made a funny post in it. I'm not repeating myself for this one.
yeah I have a thread about this - it's a local story for me. Basically the school is heavily black (the teacher is most likely black) so she probably figured nobody would raise a stink about busting on rednecks who are on the wrong side of history anyway. Definitely the wrong stage for trying your edgy comedy out on a test audience!
Probably good for the kids to learn that sort of flag is pretty much identifying you as a deplorable. Sure you have the freedom to fly it, but it is good to tell kids a more honest description of what it is about so they don't grow up thinking that flag is anything but a flag of traitorous racist southerners.
So is school the forum for espousing your political views in such a blatantly insulting manner? Shit if colleges walk on eggshells trying not to offend students (most of them technically adults) I would think a high school would at least consider the concept that not everyone in their class shares their views.
It is a place to learn about the world, and the reality is the only reason the confederate flag is insulting is because of it's very real reputation. The people who used it made it what it is. If you don't want to be insulted then stop being a racist redneck inbred fuckwit (AKA @Dayton Kitchens )
I'm certain it wasn't any of the black students who got triggered and whined to mummy and daddy about it.
