A modded Playstation Portable is a beautiful thing to behold! You can play any PS1 game on it, and there are even emulators that allow you to play any Super Nintendo, MAME, or Atari game on it.

I've gotten Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story to work on it, and now that I've upgraded to custom firmware 3.03, it has become even better!

Who here has a PSP? And if you do, have you hacked it yet?

I'm waiting for them to drop to 50 bucks.

Ditto, although I may hint for one at graduation.

Hmm...I dunno if they will ever drop to $50. The GBA is a very outdated system, and yet it is still selling for $90. In fact, I just bought one last week.

A PSP without any hacks I'd pay about $100 for. If it's hacked, it's by far the best handheld system EVER.

GBA isn't that outdated, besides there is the supply/demand factor. People still want to buy them, so they still sell them high. I saw a PSP in the store the other day and almost shit myself at seeing the near $90 price drop. I wouldn't bother modding it though, since Tactics is being remade for, faster play and multiplayer support.

D'oh! I dunno about the faster play, considering it's being put on a UMD disc. My EBOOT version works great, and the load times are a little faster than the PS1 version.

I'll still buy FF Tactics though, since it includes new jobs and cut scenes.

I'd rather own a DS, in fact I did for a little while, until I realized how useless portable gaming is to me currently.

I've been very underwhelmed by the PSP's pretty drab library of games. Most of them get pretty bad reviews too.

I'd buy the new Burnout in a second though!

I have both of 'em, and they both have their strengths and weaknesses. I agree with you, however, that Nintendo has got, by far, the better games. (Counting the GBA games, the DS games alone leave much to be desired.) The DS-LITE is also small, and can slide into your shirt pocket, while the PSP is a clunky black brick that jabs into your thigh when you take it out.

But the PSP can surf the net, play your music, play video, has a solid library of games, and you get all that without needing to apply one hack to it. WITH hacks, it becomes the dominant system by far! What else can you say about a system that lets you play all the PS1, GBA, Super Nintendo, MAME, Atari, SEGA, and NDS games on it, run word processors, and even Windows95? Attach a lens, and it also becomes a digital camera. The only thing it's missing is to be able to use it as a phone and a TV.
