He is way too attached to his history and identity here to stay away. He will return playing the victim of the mods despite the fact he really went out of his way to bring up someone else's identity and blame them for him being a nosey ass. I figured this was an inevitability which is why I decided to claim responsibility for it happening way back when. He has a definite feeling of being special to this place and that means he is above the rules. It is pretty standard for a message board to have a few like him, and that will fuel his fire to return. It is also going to dig at him so he will push things further in a battle where he is the underdog hero fighting the evil mods. He was already doing that, but now it will get worse and I do not think he is capable of cooling his jets.

He either comes back and is a neutered puppy which is not him, or he will make trouble until he violates enough to get the castle treatment. It is obvious he will be his own undoing.

Odd you are calling me out here, but this was the path I was going to use to get him to get himself banned. He wants to expose people. He obviously will cross that line given opportunity. Now he has done it himself without the bait. From here his meltdown to a permaban is inevitable because he cannot admit he went too far and stop trying to get personal info on others. He is right that it was only a small easy step anyone here can do to get that info, but he did it and the rest of us either don't care enough to go there or they know better than to do that.

His inability to accept losing because of his ego is why I was confident with a few little actions I could get him started on this road. After that it is just a matter of poking his failure and lack of power until he melts down again and does it again. The more he gets banned the harder he will fight, and eventually he will become like castle. The mods will give him a ton of chances, but you have already shown he is powerless to stop you and that fucks with his arrogance. He has to humble himself, and I do not think it is in him even if he makes an initial apology because he does not think himself wrong.

Don't assume people are so attached to the internet that they are desperate to post and maintain an "identity". This will be my only post until certain person/s cease to have control here. But I feel that a setting of the record is in order to offer my take on it all, and yes I do feel I am a "victim of the mods" on this occasion.

The heinous crime I committed was "revealing" @Captain X 's first two initials. I didn't actually know his name for sure, so I took a guess based on the Star Trek fan fic he links to in his sig, has linked to for years and continues to do so at the time of this post. He also revealed it here openly on the board. I only know which of these names is his because he then confirmed it to me and then pressed the report button, which is pretty cowardly. @gul then rushed along to ban me within an hour of the crime. When I laughed on Facebook at how bullshitty the ban was, in a handful of posts on the day of the ban (my so called "glorious" meltdown in which @gul, surprise, surprise, compared me to Castle), I was told that my actions were comparable to WAB revealing my own personal information (stuff never posted or linked to on this board). Gul then started squirming when I pointed out that not only does Captain X link to the information, but that he actually posted it on the board, outside of the Red Room. The response was, and I quote "You don't mention RL information in the Red Room it's that simple.". Now, can someone tell me when this has ever applied to others who have revealed their names on board? What about every person who still uses @14thDoctor 's real name today on the justification that he confirmed it was him, something almost identical to this? What of the copious postings of @Dayton3's personal stuff on the basis that he posted it here himself? It was always the case that if you posted what a member chose themself to reveal then it's fair game. But now, apparently, the rule has changed so that if you post your own personal info in any room on the board, Blue Room or otherwise, it's out of bounds. If there is to be such a change then it should be made clear to the members, not retroactively made up after someone has been banned. Even though he denies it, let's call this what it is. @gul couldn't wait to drop the ban hammer, in response to my varied criticisms of his modding, such as the disgraceful treatment of @gturner and the original bullshit reason for Castle's banning, and also in the desperate hope it would cause a "glorious meltdown". Quite simply he uses his mod powers to go after people he either dislikes, has a grudge against or who have called him out.

Let's think about what the personal info rule is for. It's to protect people who have not themselves revealed their information. When a member reveals that information then they have rendered that rule pointless. So all @gul did was valiantly swoop in to "protect" information Captain X revealed and continues to reveal himself and information I took to make a guess without actually even knowing which name was the poster's. So what did I "reveal"? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I've been banned before, and I can handle being banned. The first time was justified as I revealed Maud Dib's name based on his Facebook info. Fair's fair, the ban was earned as Maud had never revealed himself here. This however is bullshit, and it's just another example of bullshit modding, from @gul in particular. There is no logic or thought behind this ban, and being that @gul never admits when he is wrong, my questioning of it has just led to doubling down with even more absurdities and the usual labels of "drama, meltdown and taking it all too seriously". Out of principle, I don't feel I can post here while, at the very least, @gul is in control because there is no consistency and no logic behind these actions, and they are done with the intention to drive off people he doesn't like (by his own admission). Well, I'm happy to oblige because there is no point in claiming to believe in fair modding and a set of rules when they are just ignored at a whim. It's effectivelyu trolling by modship (just as the actions against gturner were).

Drama, toys, pram etc, etc. I'll stop by every so often to check PMs, but otherwise I'm out for the time being. See you guys whenever.

I also think you're dead wrong on the issue. If you had to follow a link, make a guess, and depended on the poster's reaction to see you were right, then clearly the information wasn't already revealed on WF. Not a "heinous crime", but a clear infraction, and not punished heinously, but with a few days' timeout.

El Chup's problem is that he's British. They're stuck on that tiny island talking to the same three people until they go nuts, become eccentric, and get interviewed by the BBC about gardening and their museum of commemorative antique gravy boats.

I'm pretty sure I've never revealed my name here but somehow everybody knows it and nobody got banned for anything. I don't even think anybody even got warned. But I'm a conservative so different rules apply.

It also was posted on board, as I showed above, in a thread in which the poster identified the fanfic work as partly his own. Complaining after offering up your own information is pretty weak IMO...and no I didn't depend on his reaction, that was all his. I actually thought he had no problem with his name known, which is why I used it....because I was actually illustrating the absurdity of saying someone is stalking by using info that person posts themself. So that's the irony of it all, it wasn't even an attempt to troll.

Anyhow, that's how I see it...and I don't want to get into a load of posts arguing it over. It's just something in a long line of what I consider mod inconsistency.

You were supposed to celebrate, and your failure to do so put you on the hit list. After that you could've been banned for posting a whale joke. That's the way it works.
