are so many people--not necessarily here, but in the press and in the public at large, including people of all ideologies and partisan ties--so obsessed with the results of presidential general election polls at this point? The election is more than 7 months away! I could get as much useful predictive information about the election by flinging my shit against the wall and applying astrological analysis to the patterns that result as by looking at a current general election poll result. Has the entire country had a collective case of amnesia imposed upon it so that no one can remember the state of the primary polls last summer and fall? Does anyone really think that candidate polls at this point serve any purpose beyond giving talking heads something to talk about? [/rant] Whew. I just needed to get that out of my system.
Hey, I argued for tar and feathering Obama when he opened his mouth a year ago, but nobody listened. Personally, I think we should prohibit people from running for office beyond six months prior to an election. Start in June, narrow it down in August, elect in November. Save everybody some money and me from a goddamn headache...
