When 3DRealms actually released a brand new, reasonably high-resolution screenshot from Duke Nukem Forever?
Not just a picture, but this piece of news from George Broussard http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showthread.php?t=29639
Broussard has previously claimed that you'd only start seeing concrete DNF publicity about six months before the game's release. Are we looking at the next summer blockbuster, over a decade in the making? Or is it just more of Broussard being crazy?
Given that his emphasis that it is just a teaser I'm expecting something that actually contains very few, if any, ingame assets. That said, if the trailer does end with something like a "coming July 2008" message then get ready to see the internet melt.
The only reason it hasn't been released by now is they're always unhappy with the plot or the technology. I guess they finally got a taskmaster to keep them on target, but does this come at playability? There are *huge* expectations for this game. For all I care, this better be Postal with strippers and babes need savin'. Release the game as AO, anything else will earn my contempt.
There are a lot of people at SA bitching about the graphics, which totally ignores the point of Duke Nukem - killing a whole lot of everything and naked/half-naked women. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the game to get away with an AO rating, just because it's likely to have such a huge audience coming in.
I loved Duke Nukem 3D in college. We'd hook up our computers in the dorms and play deathmatches all night.
I will own this first day it comes out. And I haven't played a FPS on a computer since Counterstrike was in Beta. Question though, does anyone under 25 (and not a basement dwelling WF-type) even know what Duke Nukem is?
I doubt I have the system specs for it, but if Lucasarts makes a PC version of the Force Unleashed, that will push me into a new desktop and then a whole slew of other games as well...
Half Life 2 was that last game for me, it looks like the release date for Duke will set my upgrade time table this time.
Hail to the king, baby (It's kinda surprising that I still know half the one liners after playing Duke over the internal telephone wiring at university. So long ago...)
