Make a shortcut on your desktop. Let the shortcut point to "shutdown /p". Double click that. You will shutdown.
For some reason I'm reminded of this scene in Tomorrow Never Dies: Elliot Carver: Mr. Jones, are we ready to release our new software? Jones: Yes, sir. As requested, it's full of bugs, which means people will be forced to upgrade for years. Elliot Carver: Outstanding.
Right hand Charm, Settings, Shut Down. Stupidly placed, granted, but no need for for the key combination of doom.
The stuff that pops up when you mouse over to the top right corner of the screen. You get what's known as the "Charms Bar," which has translucent icons (charms) showing things like "Settings," "Start," etc.
It pops up when you move the cursor into a corner, either top right or bottom right. It's really not hard at all.
At first I was against this but the more I think about.... Yeah I could do the subscription thing. Really it's not that much money if they follow in say Apple's foot step. Now if Microsoft gets stupid and wants the $100 subscription rate then yeah we've got a problem.
If they do something like that they will lose the rest of the death grip that MS has been so desperately trying to hang on to. Individual users would switch to other OS's in that first year and businesses would make the transition over a few years. There is no way they can be that stupid. I will stick with my forecast: $35 per year for Windows. Office will probably gain some other low end single user options in that $30-60 per year range but the multi user/multi computer licenses will likely hold at the current $100-150+ range.
