Aw, what the heck. MY slightly re-imagined Wonder Woman: That's right: exposed navel. Deal with it, America.
I can't keep up with all the DC reboots. After Crises on Infinite Earths way back when, I lost all interest.
Tha was weird... I think the reason that never took hold was because they made one DC's most beloved characters a psychopath lunatic villain.
Are you talking about Batman? If so, you may be interested to know that at some point, I think it was "Infinite Crisis," they did a reboot in part to de-asshole-ify Batman. Of course, since then they "killed" Batman and made Dick Grayson Batman. I haven't been following the comics closely, but I think they are about to bring the Bruce Wayne Batman back. Hopefully they will find a good middle ground between psycho and Adam West.
I thought maybe he were referring to Hal Jordan. He became psychotic and evil after the 'Reign of the Supermen' storyline.
personally, I LIKED "barely sane" Batman WAY better than the nice guy. Anyone who does what he does and was still a swell guy wouldn't make sense, IMO.
Ooh...In Paladin's Wonder Woman revamp, Wonder Woman's secret identity would be a fat chick and then she'd spin and transform into a skinny chick--like Oprah in the 1990s!
Oh yeah. But I may have my chronology messed up, but Hal Jordan becoming Parallax wasn't directly or really indirectly related to Crisis and happened in 1994. Whereas the psycho Batman at least started appearing around the same time as Crisis ended up like 1987ish.
No, you're right. Hal became Parallax when Coast City was destroyed by Cyborg Superman during the "Death of Superman/Reign of the Supermen/Return of Superman" mega-event. Hal went bonkers, killed almost all the Green Lantern Corps, stole all their rings, and tried to resurrect Coast City.
DC Comics continuity has always been massively f---ed up. Crisis on Infinite Earths cleaned up some of the mess, but then subsequent reboots and retcons messed it all up again. That is why I actually prefer to collect DC trade paperbacks or graphic novels... easy to read stories with a beginning, middle, and ending. Marvel Comics was pretty good about keeping their continuity straight until the mid 90s... then they screwed it all up with the Spider-Man Clone Saga, X-Men: Onslaught, and the re-numbering of all their old titles. But getting back to Wonder Woman... I actually picked up a ton of solid WW comics for bargain bin prices at a local hobby shop. I picked up the last three issues featuring the pre-Crisis Wonder Woman (vol. I: 327-329) and the first 14 issues of the post-Crisis George Perez reboot of Wonder Woman (vol. II: 1-14) The whole lot cost me maybe 10 dollars total!
I need to pick up the Return of Bruce Wayne, all the reviews seem to point to it being a classic - but then it is Grant Morrison writing it, who tends to do things off-kilter but makes them well-written and interesting.
