I went to the board to find out the truth. The poll was public so that all of a sudden 100 duals wouldn't crawl out of torpor to pad the poll.

Why should I care if Chup or Flashlight are red or green? Or anyone else for that matter?

Plus, he's not the only one raising issues with Tamar. About 10-15 people have.

I stated above, all she has to do is give some indication that she is prepared to consider the comments from quite a few people that she is biased (and note I said consider, not admit, which we know she won't do) and I will give her the benefit of the doubt and see what happens in the future.

But, for whatever reason, she doesn't seem to be able to do that despite many comments from others about the bias.

I invite anyone to go back and reread the threads associated with this subject from a few months back where Tamar engaged in a relentless campaign to discredit, belittle, and denigrate any proposal to alter the system, along with anyone who supported the concept.

As for the "majority" who didn't want it changed - some who voted in that poll were those who were actively engaged in abusing the system, others were those who had no dog in the fight (but who then abruptly changed course in the past 2 weeks to help take down Sokar's Club, once Cool & The Gang decided it would be a fun thing to do), and the rest didn't bother to participate.

And it's fast becoming cliche to claim that rep is meaningless. Why, if rep is that useless, and if it can in fact be used in an abusive fashion to try and drive people off the board, why not do away with it altogether? TBBS never had "rep" or any kind of comment function. You rose in rank based on how many posts you had (no matter how stupid they were).

I guess if we had that kind of system here, Diacanu would be our absolute ruler!

The closest thing to that was that it was a comment about 5-10 people complaining about rep and overhauling the system for a handful seemed like making special rules a-la Enterpriser, which I said seemed silly.

But a relentless campaign about rep? You're fucking nuts.

The rep poll told the tale. Even if all 19 I don't knows went to yes, change it it still would have been 49 leave it be to 38 change it.

I am just suggesting your statement that you don't care about rep is insincere since your poll thread was clear evidence that you do very much care about approval here, and rep is one of the chief ways of approval, is it not?

I don't care about the approval part...I like giving pos reps to people though and I'm not going to willingly deprive myself of it for nothing...but I am also not going to lose sleep over it if I lost it either.

If it's the right thing for the board then yes. We aren't a democracy. Since Lanz has said he wants to change Rep, and if you agree, why not change it?

If Lanz really wants to change rep no one could stop him. I support any decision he makes in that regard.

That would probably take care of almost all the problems with the rep system. But I doubt many others would go for it.

The comments are useful in helping to keep the board from being clogged up with posts. But I don't see why we need to have 'rep scores' like some sort of video game.
