This is pretty neat. I've always liked reading about shipwrecks and the treasures they bring. Back then, to go off adventuring was a pretty big thing, and involved a lot of risks. I was told that my great grandfather left China because there was apparently a lot of treasure in the areas of Burma/Cambodia at the time, and he left to try and make his fortune. He was never heard from again.
Only problem is that whoever actually pulls it up, are going to have to fight like all hell for it in international court. I remember reading just a while back about some american treasure hunters, that found an old spanish shipwreck somewhere off the florida keys that had a lot of gold on board. The spanish gov't let them do all the excavation work, and as soon as they bought it up to the surface, the spanish gov't started crying about it still belonged to them and that they wanted it back. I never got the end story of it all, but I do remember reading that the american guys were taken to court and were really pissed about it!
They did a show about that on the History Channel. They eventually won the case and got to keep a portion of the gold. I hope this makes it on the History Channel. I love this stuff. I constantly watch the History Channel, hell, right now I'm watching a documentary about some Roman ships. It's good stuff.
