Also, CBS is the most copaganda-ish network in existence, I have trouble believing that 1) they have that many Black, Brown, women or queer people chomping at the bit to work on a show about the whitest, "straightest" niche of the Navy or 2) that they were gonna promote any of those groups when the network famously let the two Asian leads of Hawaii 5-0 walk rather than pay them the same wage as she white acting with even less screen time. The nerve of CBS, giving preference to people who have military experience for staff writer jobs for a show called Seal Team. I don't automatically discount the notion that the staff writer might be telling the truth (or his truth) and that he was passed over for staff jobs by women and people of color. But I don't automatically credit the claims either. It's entirely possible the producers told him "Hey we can't hire you because you're a white guy and the suits want us to be diverse." It's possible that they told him that truthfully, as well as it's possible that they told him that to ease his hurt feelings. And of course, it's possible that he's just making up these confessions. I don't watch Seal Team, but the fact that the show is apparently going seven seasons despite CBS allegedly being overly focused on diversity here undermines the notion that such a push has maningfully affected the show's quality.
I hope he has some recording of the person doing the hiring saying he checked no DEI boxes because I do not believe in this day and age a hiring manager would ever say such a thing. HR would have their necks for opening a company up for this sort of thing. He seems to be asking for a low enough amount of money that CBS will probably toss him some money from their couch cushions to go the fuck away. Stupid whypipo. I do not think this is a thing they are telling anyone. This is the excuse that faux news and the racists tell them for why they were not hired. I have never had a boss tell me that they could not promote me because we needed to hire a black guy. I could almost see it in the case of a writer not being hired because they might want a person writing for them who has experience in the diverse situations present in the show. I have seen a lack of understanding of racism from the black perspective when it is written by white people. Black people, women, GLBT, and other minorities are just going to bring a more realistic view to the experience of those minorities. This idea would never come from the person doing the hiring, especially at an established and nationwide organization like a broadcast network in the US. If you said shit like that to people HR would have fired you a long time ago. No one is saying this to him to presever his whypipo feelings. He got this shit from the right wing lie machine who is telling him he was not hired because of quotas. He wants to believe that because it is much nicer to believe you cannot get the job because someone cheated you rather than you just suck. Being prejudice against a group of people means not having opportunities for the group. I am quite sure there are tons of white cishet males working at the network. I would be amazed to find anyone at the organization told him he was not hired because of diversity. If they did then HR needs to fire that person.
