"Again"? Was it good before it was bad? I've never seen it, but everyone I know IRL who has seen it says it sucks. Should I give it a try?
Started out real good and mysterious, but got tedious and annoying for a while. Pretty fucking good again, at the moment.
Season 1 was pretty amazing, with a few clunkers. Season 2 was mostly pretty good, with a few more clunkers. Season 3 started off pretty badly, but most of the last four or five episodes have been pretty good. At this point, you probably know the basic premise of it and something of how it's executed, so if that hasn't interested you, maybe not. I would say that renting the show on DVD would be worth giving a try. I'd recommend skipping pretty much any episode that is focused around Jack, Charlie or Kate, especially after the first season.
Despite all the naysayers, I don't think Lost ever really lost its touch. There were some pretty crappy episodes, however. And it was stupid to kill off all but one of the Tailies after introducing their storyline a few episodes prior. Ahem.
The last few episodes of season 2 and the first 8 - 9 episodes of season three were some of the most disappointing television ever put on the airwaves. The show had completely lost its touch. The latter half of this season seems to have really recaptured the magic. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
I think the producers had some fire put under their collective asses. However I also wonder whether the initial break was meant to be after the first 6 episodes or was that something dictated by the network. Where they left it really wasn't that big of a cliffhanger, as they have had some greater ones since then.
I'm hoping the producers have been listening to the legions of fans wh have been sayin "answer some mysteries and move the fucking plot along or we're bailing!"
If there's a consensus it's worth watching again, I might give it another try. If so, at which episode should I start watching again?
I had accidentally programmed it to simultaneously record CSI-NY on the HD and non-HD channels. It can only record two shows at the same time, and the priority settings were such that it cancelled the recording of Lost. I've since removed one of the CSIs, and set it to record the repeats of Lost so we can catch the episode we missed.
I'll bet the Mrs. withheld sex in retribution for that error. : : : : Okay, who am I kidding? I can't ever see her doing that!
I've never seen it and actually have no idea what it's about. I've gone out of my way to make sure it stays that way until I rent it on DVD.
Packard, if you're talking about just season 3, here's what I'd suggest you watch: "Further Instructions" - Third episode of the season, features Locke. "The Cost of Living"- Fifth episode of the season, features Eko "Not In Portland" - Seventh episode, features Juliet "Flashes Before Your Eyes" - Eight episode, features Desmond Every episode from #11 on, with the possible exception of the Kate-centric one at 15.
10 crappy episodes out of 66 isn't that bad. Most shows would be thankful to have that sort of ratio.
Well, most fans of Lost that I know of were really upset with Season 2, especially when it seemed like the Tail group were becoming the main characters. It sounds like TPTB started listening to the fans about what was wrong with the show and what was driving the fans away from watching. Now if only they would answer some questions as well as create new questions
Problem is, they killed off almost the whole damn tail group, which, to me, made that whole season completely pointless!
I still liked seeing events from their side of the island, but it was pretty dumb to kill all but one of them off. They could have just let them wander into the background like Bernard (I wonder how his SOS sign is doing ). Or at least kill them off before they meet up with the other group of survivors. Well, actually have Eko be the only one to survive and make it to the other camp. Bernard too.
They just dragged and dragged and dragged that crap out with Jack, Kate & Sawyer on the "other" island, to the detriment of not only the other characters but to the overall story (and the plot as you said). Lost was actually really really good on Wednesday, and it looks to be even better next week. It also helps that they have chosen to keep the love triange crap just below the threshold of tolerance for me.
They realised no one in the fucking universe cares whether Kate screws Jack or Sawyer and that people only care about the mystery.
So apparently they chose this week to stop broadcasting the previous weeks' episode before the new one.
