He didn't do anything spectacular with it though.

In the 90's some nut took a tank, and squished over some street lamps, and flattened down some guard rails
    He played GTA for real.

    Yep. San Diego.

The dumbass apparently didn't know how to drive it all that well and let himself get high-centered on a freeway barrier.

Shawn Nelson. The podcast on him is an entertaining listen.

You can't really do much spectacular with a HUMVEE. They only top out about 80 MPH (At least when I was on the freeways in Korea) and these days a lot of civilians drive bigger SUV's and trucks so there's not much kick-ass about them. Now if the HUMVEE had a turret mounted 50 cal he would be in business.

IIRC, he apparently resisted being removed from the vehicle, and police had to shoot him dead thru the hatch.

There's a local strip club ad that uses footage of that chase, followed by "We know where he was in such a hurry to go!"
    Pretty tasteless, actually.

Which is further proof that he didn't know what he was doing.

If he'd had everything buttoned up the right way, the only way they could've gotten to him was with a torch or an AT4. :bergman:

For more GTA style craziness, I suggest you listen to this episode about the guy with the armored "killdozer." After that, you might want to check out this episode, which describes a guy who sounds like a certain WForger I could name. Finally, this episode about a highly decorated Marine who was asked to join a coup attempt involving folks like Prescott Bush, is worth a listen as well.
