^You and I are in the vast minority of Trek Fans. Mostly, I was trying to give Flashy a hard time about fan loyalty. Just because a show was good doesn't mean you can't call it shit when it is. I've de-canonized the last three seasons of Gilmore girls in my mind.
We'll find out just how pissed off the GG fans are about the Christopher crapola this coming Tuesday. GG's always been fairly resistant to Idol in the past. If it isn't this Tuesday, then it's finished. OTH lost half its ratings to Idol last Wednesday. Half.
I'll admit that I'm growing frustrated with the show, and that I haven't found this season's mini-arc with Jack, Kate & Sawyer trapped on Other Island to be particularly compelling or well-written. I thought the whole cliffhanger with Jack operating on Ben and Ben just happening to have the spinal tumor to be hackneyed and silly. I think it's been a major mistake to focus the show primarily on those three characters while relegating everyone else to background status, ESPECIALLY Locke and Sayid. Actually, I've been disappointed in the underuse of Sayid for a long time now. Hurley, Charlie and Claire have virtually been forgotten. They killed off all the Tailies, including Eko which pissed a lot of people off. And now they're trying to shoehorn these two new characters into the show, played by actors who are generic and uninteresting. They don't seem to know how they want to portray Locke - mysterious and sinister, or emotionally crippled and plagued by self-doubt, or as Aragorn/Strider, the master hunter/tracker/survivalist. Desmond has developed pre-cognition? Nobody back on the beach seems to have noticed that the Hatch is now just a smoldering crater in the ground? You know, at this point I'm too invested in the show to just give up on it. I'll stick around to see how it all plays out. I'm hoping that this hiatus has allowed the writers/producers to bring the direction of the show into a sharper focus and we'll start moving things along at a brisker pace. I agree with you that the Jack-Kate-Sawyer love triangle is stupid and needs to be dropped. I don't care who she's going to bone. But they're doing it because that's what LOST 'shippers were screaming for during the first 2 seasons.
Whenever anyone reminds me that I was once an ENT shipper, I come back with "and didn't that turn out well?"
