It's been snowing on and off here in northern Virginia since early this morning. Nothing is sticking, tho.
Oh, it's sticking here!. At least 4" of fluffy, heavy, wet snow. With most of the leaves still on the trees, it's causing a lot of falling branches. I hear a "CRACK" outside every 10 or 20 minutes. One of my neighbor's trees broke in half and fell across his roof an hour ago. Doesn't look like it caused any damage, though - it's just lying across his roof.
And our town plows, like last year, refuse to plow closer than 5 feet to the curb. The road is about 15 feet wide now.
It's snowed in October in the US every single year for the past 20 years. This is no surprise Fortunately, all we have in Alabama is a freeze warning. It'll be 40 degrees!
Yes...but not in that location! Considering the US includes the Rocky Mountains, and Colorado alone has over 50 peaks over 14,000 feet, I would imagine it does snow in the US before halloween.
No snow here. Been real nice, though unforcasted rain yesterday meant the ground was too muddy for a game of disc golf
October snow in Delaware is extremely rare, especially here in the central part. I can't remember the last time it happened.
The morning after. Two branches down in our yard - one fell right where Mary's new car would have been parked if we hadn't moved to the end of the driveway. A neighbor's tree cracked in half about 30 feet up and fell over on his roof. No damage, but now he has half a tree on his roof. Lots of trees and branches down around the neighborhood. The snow is frozen solid. Have to wait for some afternoon warming before we can shovel. I came within a hair of having to work yesterday and/or today. Thank the Great Bird I didn't have to!
Alternating, intermittent freezing rain and snow. Great day to be walking to work. So I drove back from lunch. Guess I'll just have to hit the liquor store on the way home so the vehicle gets good and warmed up from that cold start.
