I've been thinking about getting a wii of my own - as opposed to the one that goes back and forth between my house and my ex-husband's house ever other weekend. But, today, I played on my mother-in-law's x-box. That was fun. Both are interactive and you actually have to move around for some games. At least, the x-box with that thing on it. They told me before I left, but I've forgotten since then. So, to anyone who has one or the other or both, what do you suggest? the wii or the x-box. Oh, the x-box has a zumba game thing also which I am going to love.
if you want games that require lots of physical activity your best bet is the XBOX 360 with the Kinect peripheral. If you don't have Kinect it is just a standard, non-motion control console. You'd probably like Dance Central. I'm sure more sports games will be coming out soon too. At this point, the only reason to get a Wii is if you just really like Nintendo's 1st party games (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Wii Sports, Wii Fit) The Wii is essentially a dead system at this point. There aren't really any big releases coming except for a new Zelda game and then the system will basically be done with its life cycle. The 360 still has a lot of life left to it, especially with Kinect and with the XBox Live online play. I have a Wii because I like Nintendo games... but sometimes I wish I had a 360 instead.
Thanks. I like nintendo games - especially Zelda. But, there's a part in Twilight Princess that I can't get past and it just makes me angry. And, I figure, if a game makes me angry, then I'm not having fun and I just won't play it anymore. What's the new Zelda game? yes, kinect, that's the name of that thing.
What???????????????? PS3! It has a motion control add on too. And they glow! A free online network! (you pay for XBox Live) Free Playstation Home (kind of like the sims I guess) (with a Wordforge clubhouse too!) A free Blu-ray player! Join the WF's ps3 ranks!
Why is a PS3 better than the x-box? Does PS3 have zumba? and that game my niece and I played today - jumping and ducking and running?

I've got a blue ray player. What's the cost of a playstation with playstation move vs x-box with kinect?
In terms of price, the Wii is your best bet. It doesn't have anywhere near the library of great games that the Xbox or PS3 have, but it has a far more developed library in the motion-sensor category. WiiFit or Wii Sports Resort are a lot of fun.
PS3 is an overpriced lump of turd. 360 all the way. Wii I find most fun when playing offline multiplayer with your friends, which is of limited appeal to me. I have both a 360 and a Wii, and after playing my brother-in-law's PS3 a fair bit I've decided that I have no interest in acquiring one until such time as I can get one for under $20. Just not worth the price of admission. I can't give you an idea if Kinect is better overall than the Wii because I don't have it, nor do I want it (I don't play my Wii because I hate the motion controls, so there's no way I'm gonna waste money on Kinect), but if price is something you need to consider, go with the Wii. Of course, you could always get a 360 and keep taking the Wii every other weekend from your ex just out of spite...
I like my PS3 better, because I was already used to the PS controllers and it allows me to be a Blu Ray snob.
Thanks for the input everyone. ... and Baba, I've told you before, I don't play those kinds of games.
I bought a 360 back in 2008 because all my friends had them. All things considered, it might have been better to go with a PS3, especially since I don't have a Blu Ray player. The PS3 was more expensive, but it comes with more peripherals and will pay the difference itself after a year of saving on Xbox Live fees. I've missed out on exclusive titles like God of War 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4, for which I've gotten the exclusive rights to, uh, Halo. *sigh* But then, I hardly play games anymore, so it doesn't matter.
The PS3 is my console of choice, but the Kinect is my motion control device of choice. I own both systems but when I do splurge on motion control, it will be based on the software available for which system and it's interface. The Michael Jackson dance game seems to be utterly awesome on Kinect. I can't imagine it with Move. Maybe I should check craigslist to see if I can get either one used. Seriously, If I were solely concerned with motion controlled games, I'd go Xbox. Even though the PS3 has much better games.
We have both a Wii and two 360s, one of which I have set up at the shop. The better half has the Wii, kiddo has the other 360. we picked up another one to save on the battles. I'll try a PS3 someday but I'm well equipped and pleased with my 360.
The Xbox is a great console with good games, but IMHO, the PS3 has better exclusives. There is great stuff out there now available on both consoles, but games like Uncharted, inFAMOUS and God of War are IMHO, can't miss experiences that can only be achieved on a Playstation. I wouldn't shell out $300 for a PS3 just for those games if you are going to use you Xbox primarily, but if you come across a $150 deal on craigslist or something one day, I'd say go for it!
