I've yet to get my Elite hooked up to the internet, but I suspect that sometime this weekend I will do so and be looking through the arcade downloads. I already plan to purchase Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for other XBLA game downloads. I'll not list my preferrences and hope that you post accordingly, but as an effort to keep each other informed (as I'm sure this list may benefit more than just myself) I encourage a small description, what makes the game fun, replayability, and cost (USD). Please at the very least copy and paste a small snippet of an offsite review and link to it. Thank you.

Check out Aegis Wing. My roommates both got that one and it's pretty cool. It was made by 3 interns at MS, one of which was a guy I had met before (didn't really know him) from my University.

It's pretty cool and FREE. Some reason it didn't get great reviews, but I find it great fun.

Geometry Wars Evolved is another one I'd highly recommend. Frantic frenzied fun, one of the best games on XBLA. Besides Castlevania, it's about the highest rated XBLA game.

Bomberman Live is just like classic bomberman, but a little more personalized. You can create your own bomberman, kind of like a potato head. But the most important part is, it's just like bomberman of old. Gameplay remains the same and it's good fun.

Alien Hominid is actually pretty good, if you like platformers. Though, I prefer Wik Fable of Souls I think.

Wing Commander Arena is quite a lot of fun. It's semi-top down spaceship battles in arenas. It's gotten decent reviews by XBox Magazines (so I don't really count those). I find it a lot of fun, to unlock all the old ships I use to fly in the old simulator versions of the game and just go to town with 15 other players online.

Assault Heroes is fun, basically drive your car thru various levels blasting the shit out of things. Weapon upgrades, etc. Good fun.

Outpost Kaloki X is fun if you like Sims/Tycoon type games.

Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting - name says it all. (can't wait for puzzle fighter to come out).

Worms - name says it all

Boom Boom Rocket is a lot of fun. Hitting keys at the right time to set off fireworks... like Guitar Hero with a controller and fireworks.

You want reviews for these? Go here:

I suggest downloading the trials of course... try before you buy! I've probably purchased half of the arcade games.. >< Mostly because they're great little fun games for the family.

I went back and played a few this weekend, that I hadn't in a while.

Assault heroes - Fun game where you and a friend can each jump in a car and blast away at robots. Controls are similar to geometry wars, where you use both analog sticks to drive/shoot. Lots of hours of fun, for little cost.

Marble Blast Ultra - Fun 3D marble game, kind of like an updated version of Marble Madness. Can play multi-player via live for good bashing fun.

Lumines Live - name says it all.
