I just got done with #58 and... [?=Super mega ultra spoilers] [?=No, really] They fucking killed 355! Not "tricked-ya!-she's-back-in-the-next-issue" dead but "bullet-through-the-head-lying-in-a-pool-of-her-blood" dead. Brian K. Vaughan doesn't pull any god damn punches! In retrospect I should have seen it coming. The setup was less than subtle. But characters get out of the crosshairs of a sniper rifle all the time so you're almost conditioned to think nothing's going to happen (plus it was originally Yorick being aimed at). Got me hook, line and sinker. And Pia Guerra's work deserves special mention. She's always done an absolutely outstanding job but this issue raises the bar to a whole other level; the look on 355's face after she was shot was positively gut-wrenching; With the last few issues I was beginning to think the series was going to go out with a whimper. Damn, was I wrong. [/?] [/?]
