For all the actual fans, I am sorry. Finally this shit happens to some trash shonen aside from DBZ. They keep on destroying decent titles, and somehow always miss the yugi's, Naruto's, and Gundams. They are finally going to destroy One Piuece and break the hearts of all the fans.

Thank you anime gods for sparing Magical girls yet again. Please stick to ruining this made for america trash. You did not have to fuck with cowboy bebop, but you did.

If you are going to fail, fail with something like this.

    Never got into it.
The ads made it look like it was Japan trying to be Simpsons with punching or something.
    Does Castlevania count as anime?
If it doesn't, then last good anime I saw was Samurai Champloo.

You would probably like My Hero Academia. It is sort of like Avengers of Justice league combined with Teen Titans, only better.

I tried it years ago. I stuck with it 20+ episodes. The premise is great, pirates that eat goofy fruits that give you some kind of superpower. The main character is all rubbery so he's hard/impossible to injure.

Not my thing. A lot of casual cussing, Monkey isn't all that likable, and I don't care for the art style. But live action isn't going to do that art style justice for those who like it. But the big thing is it can move so very slowly. The second pirate fight takes like eight episodes to do what could have been done in three or four. I said, yeah, I can see how this has lasted so long. Some fun stuff in there but there are so many better ways to spend your time.

The manga started back in the mid 90s and has been produced on a weekly basis ever since.

Even as someone who is batshit enough to watch the backlog of The Bold and the Beautiful episodes on YouTube, I ain't sitting through that. :jayzus:

You have to really like the characters to sit through that many episodes. I don't even have a series I have watched for that many episodes. I do not even know if I could watch Sailor moon for that many episodes.

It does become interesting how a couple of cartoons have a multi generational thing going on. I think it is better to cut production and introduce a new generation into it like MLP. It just seems like going with the episodes for this long is crazy.

Why are you letting your 8 year old sit through the bold and the beautiful? Something is wrong with that kid.

Starz has a couple of the movies.
    I like what I see.
I thought it was just gonna be Dragonball/Narutao with a superhero skin.
The fights are Dragonall-y/Naruto-y, but the soap opera stuff between the fights is very X-Men/Teen Titans.
You can tell the writers/artists studied Marvel/DC for the powers.
I was like "that's like Raven, that's like Medusa, that's like Bishop...".
You could almost head-canon that they're the Japanese chapter of the X-Men.

Quirks are pretty much mutant powers. Unlike X-men there is a reason aside from "nature." Also, unlike X-men in the present age of the show the Quirked ones are working with the humans and many are responsible for evac and rescue operations when the powerful ones fight in the middle of the city. This is unlike american comics where they just seem to pretend no one dies when superman fucks up half the city because superman takes a moment to save a dog once during the fight. I never did understand why superman was so angry at killing zod when superman obviously wiped out an uncounted huge number of people.

From what I've been hearing, this is one of the better live action adaptations of an animated series. Granted, the bar is stilling in Hell as to what is considered "good," but at least they didn't do a Death Note to it

I am one of the few who did not totally hate live action death note. It wasn't the anime, but as a show wasn't terrible. Then again I enjoyed netflix bebop.

I thought their Beebop was fine enough. It's just that you can't really ever match the original no matter how good you do.

I can't fully articulate what I found unsatisfactory about their Death Note - I didn't hate it but...eh.

In both of these, part of the problem is that the original is so VERY good (at least in S1 of Death Note) that you're really taking a chance to even try it. I think about Full Metal Alchemist the same way. Just don't risk it.

The live action story of death note was not as good, and there was not as much well written drama for light. It was an ok plot that was an interesting idea, but it certainly wasn't the OMG what the fuck of the anime.

if they are going to live action something they should do something like dragonropa or higurashi. Those could be live actioned pretty good.

So evidently the adaptation is supposedly good? I wonder if it is just because one piece is so cookie cutter shonen that it is pretty easy not to screw up because it is really just pirate life cheese with quirky characters and some odd animation. The only reason I think I do not get into it is the animation turns me off and I am not into pirates yo ho sort of fun. Don't get me wrong, I am not shitting on it because I love my cheese, but the pirate thing is not my cheese. It almost makes sense that this sort of thing would be a success as long as you stuck to what made the original so great for the fans. It is easy to reproduce so do not overthink it.

They should try Naruto next. I am shocked that they couldn't get DB correct. Maybe it is just that they should have done DBZ instead of DB because that seems pretty hard to fuck up. Stay away from the anime with some depth or that doesn't translate for the adult male audience and just go for the cookie cutter shonen you can make a billion episodes out of. That is all people who are going to watch a netflix live action anime are interested in anyway.

I just cannot get into shonen series where the goofball is the main character and they try to have some sort of serious plot. Luffy and Naruto are two giant annoyances that should be sidekick characters IMO. This is why My Hero Academia was better, or at least magic girl anime is more palatable with the goofball as the main character. Little Witch Academia has the spasmatic goofball main character, but with the female lead I can follow it easier as the paradigm is just easier going on my mind. The good hearted clumsy ditz girl is a lot easier to follow than when it is a male IMO.
