Google inches closer to becoming Skynet, by buying military robotics company. As one person in the comments section put it, "The humanoid army is about to be assembled on the Google barges. Thousands of of google employees sit in Santa Clara, ready to control their avatars through their google glass interface. Its no coincidence they called their OS "Android." Its all coming together."
This is all part of Google's strategy for beating back the Amazon drone threat. As long as Google's robots only shoot at Amazon's, we'll be relatively safe.
If by "relatively safe" you mean "dodging falling drones, getting hit by shrapnel, and trying not to get crushed by toppling robots," then yeah.
Google's smaller-company-gobbling is absolutely hateful because for the most part they take over a company and then kill innovation. So a promising company that was doing x y and z becomes just a google brand doing... nothing much.
Oh, there won't be a war between Google Terminators Big Dogs and Amazon's Aerial Hunter-Killers delivery drones. And there's absolutely no truth to the rumors that the two companies intend to merge into a single corporation calling itself Cyberdyne Systems. None at all.
