A few of me and the gang at Pirate Fest this year. It's bloody hot in the middle of a field We messed around with fairytales, hence the kid in an egg suit. (she was a star!) Stage swagger...I be Pirate Brown, baddest pirate in the whole scurvy town Taking a bow.
He's part of the "counterculture". You and I chose different career paths--ones that are largely devoid of loose liberal chicks.
There's a pretty good network of people who all connected via the old hard site of the Ontario Ren Fair, which was a permanant site up until around five years back. Since the lease on that land went tits up, there have been a series of temporary fests under a few different themes of varying success. I'm just lucky that the folks I work for are old schoolers who now are often involved at organizational levels. As well as thematic casts, we and our partner business often loan out merchandise and costumes to other cast and vendors in exchange for vendor fees. They in turn, know everyone from the golden years, some of whom also organize a few of the other fests. This way we can switch settings from pirates to knights to fantasy, depending what folks want locally. There are always advertisements for the next fair at the present one, and we're often planned out by the end of the year for the next season. Most of them have a website with links to each other as well. Now me, I'm mainly there as a vendor for the jewelery we make. Beginning of last summer though, that changed. The boss invited me over to her house for a meeting that turned out to be a rehearsal for a Henry viii performance. Ever since then, I've been being handed scripted characters and/or "playing" with the atmosphere people.
Alas, my years in theater groups my have found me lotsa loose liberal chicks, but they still didn't want anything to do with me.
Sadly, I too am past the loose liberal chicks years and have to make due with the politically moderate milfs. On the upside, they enjoy wearing bodices too!
Late bloomer. I had a crush on the girl who played Martha Washington, but I never worked up the nerve to send her a "Do you like me? ___Yes ___No" letter.
Hey spaceturk, if you had the party on Church Street it could have been a butt pirate festival! What?
meh, better irony is that Fairy Festival in Guelph happens the weekend Gay Pride starts in Toronto...
