... you see brake lights on the highway ahead and suddenly notice no less than FOUR traffic helicopters hovering in formation overhead. Thankfully my exit was just before whetever it was. whew.
When we got back from Turkey a couple of weeks ago, the first thing we saw on the M23 was a sign warning of the A12 being closed just where we'd usually turn off. Saw a few more signs on the M25, nothing on the A12 itself. So we decided it was a false alarm, or the problem had passed, and stayed on the road. Until we got to the Kelvedon turn-off - about 10 miles from Colchester - and other half, at the last minute, noticed that the traffic was stationary ahead. We turned off and cut through the villages. It turned out that a van carrying propane gas cylinders had caught fire... It was 24 hours before the road reopened...
More proof of my theory that only vehicles/trains hauling dangerous stuff ever crashes. Never a truck full of kittens, marshmallows, or Silly String.
Ironically, yesterday's emergency involved a collision between a kitten truck and marshmallow shipment! Linda, how was that drive to Turkey?
Don't know if it was your backup, but they found a dead pregnant woman along the Garden State Parkway yesterday. That was at 10:15 AM.
^Nope, the choppers were over Route 3 at Route 21. I've been able to avoid the Parkway since 21 connected to 20 a few years ago.
Do not underestimate the killing powers of marshmallows. They are the third-worst cause of driving accidents, and marshmallows killed more drivers last year than great white sharks.
When you see something like that, or when you have to pull over for the ambulance or fire truck coming through, you know someone is having a way worse day than you are.
I had an ambulance roar through while I was on the road and I could see ahead that emergency vehicles were all parked along the side of the bridge, and EMTs were leaning over the side. No idea what was going on, but they were all running around and the cops were walking to their car shaking their heads.
