Pay up fanboys. You just know TPM will be better in 3D, right?

Alice and Avatar looked amazing in 3D because they were filmed specifically for 3D. By contrast, films that were retrofitted with 3D graphics as an afterthought (ie, Clash of the Titans) looked like total shit. I guess Lucas didn't notice.

I was specifically thinking of Clash of the Titans. I heard it was awful anyway, but as awful at TPM?

^Shittiest film of 2010, in my opinion. In both cases, Liam Neeson failed to salvage it. At least TPM had a cool lightsabre duel at the end.

Really, you'd only need one sci-fi geek on the jury to get a hung jury. I'm thinking getting past Lucas' security measures would be the biggest challenge. :sniper:

Guys, guys - this is the way George Lucas always intended the Star Wars movies to be shown. :what:

Honestly, the 3D thing is getting played out as far as I'm concerned. Avatar rocked, but 3D has failed to add anything to a movie to justify the increased price tag since, IMHO. I did not see Alice in Wonderland.

Alice wasn't filmed in 3D, it was 3D-ified afterwards.

Avatar looked awesome in 3D, but in Alice you can tell - there were peripheral parts that didn't look quite right, which you didn't get in Avatar.

Star Wars will probably be the same.

I'll likely go see ANH and ESB in 3D, maybe RotJ, but the prequel trilogy can go leap of a high cliff on an exploding space hopper filled with nails.

Just read an article which suggests a reason for the 3D, other than making scads of cash, is that ILM missed out on getting the CGI job for Avatar to Weta, so this is Lucas' attempt to make ILM the big boys on the block again.

Would Lucas by that cynical and daft? Well, yes he probably is being.

Maybe if someone 3Dified the Holiday special George would rethink things?

If not, we can just make him watch it over and over and over and over and over....

Who the hell is going to pay money to see The Phantom Menace?

Maybe this is the wake up call Lucas needs. Let him spend millions to create a 3d TPM only to have it make 20 bucks at the box office. Maybe if Lucas goes broke he'll sell the StarWars film rights.

Well unless they're only planning to screen the movie at ComiCon than it's going to flop.

There are 3D televisions these days. 3D Blu-Ray sales to the idiot market alone will turn a hefty profit. Who cares where they're going to screen it?

The same fans who queued for days to see it originally, and who then came out and stamped on their disappointment in order to avoid admitting to themselves they've spent 3 days camping outside a cinema dressed as Princess Leia (and that's just the men) in order to watch a microwaved turd.

You see them, when you ask about the prequel trilogy there is a flash of rage and disgust before they program themselves to say "not as good as the original..." and proceeding to trot the biggest load of bullshit justification since Himmler found himself wearing womens clothing and wanking over his sleeping Fuhrer.

I have the strangest feeling that I'm going to claim to skip all these things at the movie theater, but that in the end they'll turn into the big SW 'Events' we all know and love, and I shall attend forthwith.

Although I REALLY wish he'd started with 4,5 and 6.

And I REALLY, REALLY wish that he'd adapted Tim Zahn's "Heir to the Empire" and turned it into the first 3D SW movie. Bring on Admiral Thrawn and Mara Jade!

^He's not going to do anything like Heir... whilst he can treat the current set of films as a personal piggy bank to toss at a wall and break when he needs a few million for ego bolstering reasons.

There needs to be some kind of monumental failure before he does that, and we all know that won't happen, not as long as branding something as Star Wars is the marque for separating fools and their money.

Which probably explains why the live action series long mooted is now griding to a halt. Why bother paying someone to make something new?

McCallum will no doubt be appointed successor in much the same way as Berman to Roddenberry.....and he will strive to maintain "George's vision".......
