Zip files lock up my computer!

    Okay computer geeks.... anybody tell me why my new computer strobes (flashes on and off) and locks up whenever I download a Zip file? It's loaded with Vista (can't do anything about that). Discuss....

    did you just get vista vista will require you to confirm files alot try extracting in same folder. Also check your administrator rights. :)

    Uh, okay. Thanks, but please explain the process in plain English non computer talk,. How do I set my vista computer to...do what you just said? Step-by-step please.

    Ok... let me get some more info from you...

    Does it do this strange stuff when you are downloading the file, or when you try to unzip or run the file after it has downloaded? Also, do you know what edition of vista you are running? (Basic, Home, Business, Premium, Ultimate, 32 or 64 bit)...

    If the problem is occuring when you try to run the file... navigate to the dir where the file is located... right-click on the file and select "Run as Adminstrator" Vista's stupid permissions settings can do wierd things...
