Gonna be seeing him at a tiny club tomorrow along with the Good Bros & sundry kin.
"Edmund Fitzgerald" live and unplugged... I might swoon.

He came here too. I like a few of his songs, but I'm not a huge fan.
BTW I know a guy who's brother was on a freighter in Lake Superior when the Edmund Fitzgerald went under.

Oooo, I'm envious! Been a fan of Lightfoot's since a Newfie cousin sent me his first album back in the 70s...

Wonder how many people saw the announcement that he was dead? Besides him, of course.

oh, the bad jokes by musicians Garamet's age about the reports of his death... Thing to remember though, is they have all the really good dope.

okay, the cool stuff... Among other guest players were one of the guys from Prairie Oyster and sundry Good Brothers kin...THye were the headliners.. I sat at a table with Gord while the Goods were all on stage together... he was pretty cool about it. Made small talk...wow...the guy is like a god of Canadian music and I was just hanging with him for a few minutes, watching other people play...
GOt too play paparazzi after by being the closest camera when the line of handshakers came through. Hung withthe group afterwards.

The downside was he only played the one tune solo, but joined the family for a massive "Alberta Bound" as a second to last tune.

After party was good, jam in the living room type of thing... half of these people have played with the grateful dead... think about it 8)

Live Edmund Fitzgerald might just put me to sleep permanently. Seriosuly, it's the mosy monotonous song ever recorded.

But oddly enough, I have good memories of it. When I was a teen in the 70s and stuck listening to WNBC AM radio, Edmund Fitzgerald and Hotel California were the only NON-disco music the damn played.

    In the early morning rain
With a dollar in my hand
With an achin' in my heart
And my pockets full of sand
I'm a long way from home
And I miss my loved ones so
    In the early morning rain
    With no place to go...

    ^Agree.

"The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is one of the most hauntingly beautiful folk songs I've ever heard. Lightfoot's lyrics describe the event so vividly, I can see it happening in my head...
