Fair enough. Although after the past 8 years of politics of hate emanating from the left, it's a funny time to expect partisan politics to suddenly stop and everybody 'play nice.' The double standard jumps right out at you, and bites you in the ass. Not you, you've always pushed peace, I'm hip.
I bet if one of the bobble heads posted the same thing, but about McCain they'd be lining to say how true it is.
You don't seem to understand what I'm saying. Unless Sokar is a completely different person offline (and I'm inclined to think he'd have to be, or someone would have loosened his front teeth for him a long time ago), he practically screams ANTI-LEFTIE!!! No one with the slightest left-leaning tendency would dare open their mouth around him, much less let loose with this confessional drivel. Unless Sokar's really a compassionate centrist, he gives off a vibe like he'd rip somebody's head off if they even whispered the word "Obama" within his hearing. But I can understand where you wouldn't be able to pick up on something that nuanced.
A few thoughts and questions about the Sokar story: 1. Do you call yourself "Mighty Whitey"? Is it your friends' pet name for you? Or are you just joking about being also known as "Mighty Whitey"? 2. What things did you correct your liberal friend about, specifically? 3. The Obama worship thing I still don't get. I don't know any supporters who are any more enthusiastic about him or who think he is less capable of wrong than Bush supporters. Certainly here, at least two of the people that you associate with being furthest "gone" have at one time or another criticized Obama about some aspect or another. And certainly Palin supporters have said they believed she was sent by God. So can you point to one actual Obama supporter who suggests Obama is a holy figure. 4. I think I asked this in another thread and it went unanswered. Why "Black Jesus" instead of just "Jesus" if the race part isn't at least somewhat important? 5. How is your friends apparent disrespect for America between the coasts any different from Palin talking about how some parts of America are "pro-America"? 6. "When Obama wins, we will experience a period of hyper racial sensitive like we haven't seen in half a century. It's coming. The signs are here." Are you really trying to say that racial tensions are going to be higher after an Obama win than they were during the Civil Rights Movement? With church bombings, lynchings, sheriffs setting hoses and dogs on marchers, etc? Really?

So Bulldog, when a parent says that God has blessed them with a child, does that make the child a holy figure? Gimme a break dude.
Break it down for me homes. Cuz I think you know exactly what is implied by a sentiment like that. Why play dumb?
Pelosi disagrees. But seeing you have no problem with this, I assume you also have no problem if some Republicans claim that Palin was "sent by God" as well?
And the blogs link to news stories. One blog is from ABC news no less. So you disapprove of ABC News and Politico now? You obviously didn't bother to read the posts. Try again. I won't bother asking you the same question I asked Mewa since it will take 154 posts to get any sort of an answer out of you.
Why would it bother me? I have heard that type of sentiment many times. Coaches will say it about a quarterback. Teachers will say it about a stellar student. Dude
Good if you feel that way then. But those quotes are for Raoul's benefit, not yours anyway. He asked for examples, I gave him two.
What's this? Did somebody mention someone playing the race card.... Then it's time for....*cues music* Obama supporters don't leave home without it.
Saying God blessed us with a presidential figure or God sent a figure is a whole different kettle of fish than saying that person is the Messiah, or super-righteous. And you know this. For example, I believe God blessed me with my wife and sent her into my life, and me into hers. That doesn't mean that I think I am beyond reproach in my marriage and vice versa. Moreover, that sort of talk is commonplace about leaders. I could find various quotes talking about God blessing us with/sending us Ronald Reagan, George Bush or Sarah Palin. (Although I don't seem to remember seeing it re: McCain per se.) Some of them talked about how God talks to them. I'm sure Obama has too, but that's at least as messiah-like as what he's done. Nobody, though, refers to Reagan as Old Jesus or Palin as MILF Jesus or whatever though. And from a theological perspective, isn't there a level of truth to the notion that God has put whatever leader on the throne? One could support that with various Bible passage if one were so inclined. As we discussed before, that doesn't equate Barack Obama to himself being holy as Jesus any more than my saying Bulldog is a preacher and Jesus was a preacher.
I bet you don't even realize you can change Sokar to Garamet and and Obama to McCain and you could have the same post and it be just as true.
