Well, she stated her reasons and none of them were "I'm about to run for something else"

Maybe she is, but unless it's taking on Murkowski I doubt it has anything directly to do with this.

Just because it's the unconventional thing doesn't mean it won't work. she got where she is by being unconventional after all.

Elect Palin, Romney, or Huckabee and I can pretty much guarantee that things will get worse policy wise.

Eh. Same thing happened to me at Free Republic.
You go too far in either direction and people get suspicious when you're moderate and attentive.

It was the same post I posted here, nothing really outrageous about it IMO.

I can't see it. How so?

Romney will be a "manager" type. He'll be too in favor of government fixes (despite rhetoric to the contrary) - witness RomenyCare

Huckabee will spend too much n the "compassionate conservative" mold and bee too populist in his decision miking and be weak on foreign affairs.

In both cases, Obama is all those things or worse and in spades.

Palin? the worst Palin can be is unready for prime time and listen to some bad advice and be maybe too full of herself for her own good - which is exactly what we have now. sure, she will make noise about social issues but, like bush, do next to nothing on them that matters.

Other than appointing an opposite set of judges, she'd be - at worst - just what we have now....only without the god-forsaken spending.

And I say all this having NO use for Romeny or Huckabee.

How do you figure any of the three would make worse decisions than we've seen in the last six months?

I am happy she resigned. I hope she gets the republican nomination in 2012 then makes a fool of herself again so we can have President Obama for another 4 years!!!!

'Cause it would be more of the same, ol' dumbshit politics that got us where we are. Until we throw the Reps and the Dems out, it's going to be more of the same.

Palin - Got that MILFish hotness goin' on. I think she got that odd accent from deep throating cocks. She hunts and field dresses game animals, so I figure she probably has no qualms about chugging a load of splooge. MILF of the Month, yes; President no.

Huckabee - Just what we need: a Christian Fundie whacko leading the country into a theocracy. Frankly, this guy scares me.

Romney - might be the better of the three, but he still doesn't impress me.

Sorry, but I think the Republican Party sees the light with her. You're more likely to see her on YouPorn than on the 2012 ballot.

Your two posts do not agree.

The latter I can see your point on - it's the former I question.

Oh, if Huckabee actually COULD go all theocratic on us I'd agree with you about him but I don't think he'd ever actually DO any of the stuff folks worry about on that score. At least, nothing more than Clinton did with DOMA.

It's gonna take Ron Paul-like candidates to get us out of this mess and I don't see other party significantly running such a candidate. I don't see especially those three being such a candidate.

The parties are too beholden to special interests.

From a column for Politico by Roger Simon...clipped some for length

Some valid points. I still think she'd be a stronger candidate if she waited. But i wouldn't be distraught if she got the nomination in 2012. Except in one regard - Point #7 is wrong, if she gets the nomination and loses I don't think she can come back from that.

    Nah. She's cooked.

The left has three years to trash her. This changes nothing. I'll take that bet with anyone. The DNC and their drones will continue to hammer the fuck out of her. I've never seen the parasites have this kind of blind panic in my life.

You think what they haven't done so far is effective as hell?

Seems like about half of those points boil down to "try to compensate for the fact that all you're really good at is repeating simpleminded bumper sticker slogans over and over."

That was enough to get Obama elected - that and the political landscape.

Seriously - virtually everything anyone ever says about Palin (good and bad) applies in some way and often moreso to Obama and he was easily elected and enjoyed trmendus approval in his first few months.

I can't see that Palin has EVER in her height of bumper-stikeredness ever been so trite as to be reduced to a characature such as "Hope and Change" the way that Obama was and he still won.

I don't disagree with any of this but a lot of people considered Regan a loveable idiot who was no thread to actual skilled statesmen the likes of Gerald Ford too.

My hunch is she can't turn it around in just three years....and i hope she doesn't try.

But build herself into a one person movement like Reagan was by 2020?

Oh hell yes she's got time to do that.

(Note, I'm not saying she's as smart or as politically skilled as Reagan - that remains to be seen - it IS possible - I'm speaking of charm and charisma and such)

    Maybe.

but it also maybe wishful thinking.

the Anchorage paper gives no hint of such in their piece on the situation:

Hmm.... I can't decide if all this shit (Sanford/Palin) is good or not.

On the one hand it's a distraction keeping the Republicans even further from offering any real opposition.

On the other maybe this is just the housecleaning that is needed.

I'm not sure how much longer we can do with the Dems on their powertrip and the Repubs with their head up their ass... :marathon:

Neither Palin nor Sanford have a damn thing to do with opposing the current situation in Washington. They're governors. Not senators, US representatives, judicial nominees or presumed presidential candidates regardless of the opinions you may be hearing.
